pearlrose : that is adorable and a great idea!
SIDS is NOT the same as suffocation. They don’t know exactly what causes SIDS. All you can do is take every precaution (cool room, fan, no bumpers or blankets, baby on back etc).
Bumpers are absolutely a suffocation hazard and should not be used.
I think they may actually have some research that shows swaddles may increase SIDS. 🙁 They should definitely not be used once the baby has started trying to roll over. https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/diapers-clothing/Pages/Swaddling-Is-it-Safe.aspx
Dd is 17 months and still sleeps in her crib with just a sleep sack with the feet holes.
I looked after a child who died of Sids a few years ago. He was 14 months old. Please dont assume that once baby is rolling, older, etc that they are completely safe, and follow the guidelines.
solnishko1186 : Yep, we just have the protector and then a fitted sheet. My mom insisted on buying a set, and we literally never put it on because it wasn’t safe. So no worth the money.
