We were planning to use a pack n play for the first 2-3 months and then transition to the crib. We travel to family on weekends a lot, so we figured the pack n play woudl be the way to go. However we ended up with a craddle that my dad made for us, so we are using that next to the bed in our room for the first 2-3 months and then we’ll move him to his crib. We have a travel like crib for our weekend travels and a pack n play at my in-laws.

We used the Fischer-Price Rock n Play sleeper for the first 12 weeks right next to our bed.  I liked not having to go to far to get her for frequent feedings and that I could roll over and make sure she was ok.  We still use it for traveling.  I had planned on having her go right into her crib, but when we brought her home, I just didn’t want to be more than a couple inches away from her at all times 🙂

newborns like confined places so I never put my two girls in a crib right away.  I bought a bassinett for them.  this baby im going to be having there are a lot more options then there were 8 years ago.  I bought her a playpen that has the bassinet, changing table, diaper stacker and mobile all in one…. I got it at kmart for a reasonable price.  They grow out of the bassinet so fast that i felt the cost wasnt worth it, at least with this one i bought it will last until this little one is a lot older and it has multipurposes.  good luck on what you decide, remember its much easier to have your child next to you the first few months.

We had a bassinet, but we never used it.  I think it’s much harder for breastfeeding moms than formula feeding moms to have the baby sleep in their own bed.  Convenience trumped all!  Besides I love snuggling Cecilia every night!

I used a bassinet for the first almost 2 months just because it was much easier. I hated leaning over the side of the crib to put her down because it always seemed to wake her up. And i put it next to my bed because I hated getting up to get her. But then there is my step sister who still has her 5 month old son sleeping WITH her… I do not advise that AT ALL. lol.
