(Closed) Cricut Sure Cuts a Lot v. Illustrator?

You’ll need Sure Cuts a Lot or Make the Cut in order to do your own custom cuts (along with 1 cartridge so your machine will turn on) and if you want to do more designs than just fonts and such you can grab a vector program. You can download Inkscape for free, which is an open source vector program modeled after Illustrator. 🙂

Even with the Sure Cuts a Lot software you need a way to create SVG files to import into the cricut software.  I think you have to have Illustrator/Inkscape to make the SVG files and Sure Cuts a Lot to lay out your images to get more than one shape per page.

Nope – however Make the Cut is a nice new competitior in the market, so the prices of both software packages should come down as people discover there are choices. 🙂
