I’ve been looking at getting a crinoline for my A-line dress. The ones I’m seeing online either have
1) A regular small 1 inch spandex waist band
2) An extended Spanx-like thick waist band 4-6+ inches
3) A drawstring waistband
Can anyone explain to me the difference in why you might get the drawstring over the spandex? Has anyone gotten a drawstring one? Does anyone have any thoughts on one type over the other?
My dress is kind of thin fabric, very fitted to the waist, but then loose at the hips, so I’m not sure if the spanx-like one is the best choice because you can see the line at the top where it hits my waist through the dress… I’m thinking maybe the drawstring one could sit a little lower on the hips and just kick the skirt out without creating a line on my waist, but I’ve never seen or tried on a drawstring one so I don’t know if it would actually work that way…

@waitingwonderland: I bought a drawstring one and LOATHE it, just not comfortable, I LOVE my 1″ wide elastic waistband one, but I can’t wear it because it dyed the TOTALLY wrong color, and the Merry Modes one I bought (mine is very full a-line), is very comfy, it has a bit of extended elastic on the top (maybe 2-3 inches)
edt: here are pictures of the ones I have for refrence.. the pink one is the 1″, and the darker one is the Merry Modes, no pictures of the drawstring
apparently I don’t have a pic on here of the dark one, I’ll post it later if I remember

Because your dress is thinner fabric I would go with one with an elastic waistband. The elastic tends to be a little more comfortable and it also will not create as much of a line around the waist as a drawstring.

I guess maybe I’ll get a couple and take them to the store to try on with my dress..

I went with a crinoline with the spanx band and LOVED it! 🙂
