- Wedding: May 2013
So my cousin who is an amazing baker on the side just informed us (less then 3 months until the big day) that she will not be able to make our wedding cake.
She claimed that since she hadn’t heard from me in a while that she thought I had chosen to go with someone else (I didn’t realize I needed to have weekly contact with her to make sure she would still do it!). And had since committed to making a few birthday cakes that month she would not be able to make our cake (which was an incredibly simple 2 tier cake with white butter cream frosting).
I am so pissed, I can’t believe someone would just back out of a commitment like this. I guess that’s why you shouldn’t mix family and business right. Ugh I was just trying to give her little side business some support, it’s not like she was giving us a deal or anything. She was charging us the $1.50/slice she does everyone else.
I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised though, I felt like she was never too excited to do it for us. And I asked her point blank one time if she didn’t want to, and she said she did.
But this means that I am getting all the drama out of the way now and nothing will go wrong on the day right? LOL I wish.
For those of you who don’t know here are my earlier crisis:
Crisis #1–Again trying to support family businesses, a cousin who owned a flower shop and agreed to do the flowers sold her shop and backed out (not surprisingly this was the bakers sister)
Crisis #2–Church double booked our wedding day, and even though we were the first to book, we got bumped to an 11am ceremony.
Sorry for the rant, I am done now. But thanks for listening…or reading I guess!
