I’ve seriously changed my mind like a bazillion times regarding the Bridal Party gifts. Originally I wanted to get each of my girls a brown cashmere cardigan (to wear over their dresses, if they wanted) but after realizing I would have to shell out well over $100 each for anything decent, that idea went out the window. I want to keep their whole gift around $100 for each girl and I wanted to get them more than one thing. Here’s what I’ve come up with. Tell me if you hate it…
Round hat boxes: I’m going to get unfinished hat boxes and paper mache them. This may prove to be interesting since I haven’t paper mached anything since elementary school but I’m up for the challenge. I’m thinking about maybe scenes from their favorite movies or pages from their favorite books. That’s still up in the air.
Chocolate brown cardigan: Still looking for these but I’m hoping to find them through Old Navy or something of the sort as we get closer to fall. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a freakin’ chocolate brown cardigan for under $30!
Flip Flops: I’m going to buy basic ones from ON and dress them up a bit. I’m hoping to follow this tutorial. I’m thinking I’ll get brown flip flops and try to find some fabric to match the bridesmaid dresses.
Jewelry: I’m normally not a fan of jewelry as Bridal Party gifts but I totally love these bracelets and they work perfectly with our theme (fall). The girls don’t have to wear them if they don’t want to but I think they’re funky and possibly something they’ll wear again…
Personalized Gift: I want to get each girl something thats personalized just for them. It just so happens that 2/3 of my bridesmaids looooove coffee and drink it like water so I’m going to get each of them each a Contigo insulated coffee cup. Seriously, these are like the absolute coolest. I bought one for Fiance for xmas last year and he uses it everyday. It’s air tight so you can tip it upside down and it won’t spill a drop (came in VERY handy when Fiance knocked it over on his laptop!). It also keeps hot drinks hot for upwards of 6 hours! Comes in a bunch of colors. I’ll also be including a $10-$15 gift card to Starbucks with theirs.
My other bridesmaid isn’t a coffee drinker so I need to come up with something else for her. She’s a new mom who doesn’t ever really get to treat herself so I was thinking about a gift card to her favorite store but I’d also like something physical to give her. She’s into couponing and sweepstakes so I’m trying to come up with something creative relating to that. Any ideas?
So, that’s it. Whadya think?

I think those are all great ideas, but I’m just going to say that you’ll likely have better luck with the hat boxes turning out like the photo if you do decoupage, rather than papier mache.
A quick search of “gift ideas for couponers” showed some specific coupon organizers, or an entertainment book.

Personally, I would be confused by the hat box because I do not really wear hats and I wouldn’t have a use for it. I would think that with the time and energy that would go into them it may be better spent on other gifts.
I love the cardigan and I think they look so super cute in photos if you can get all of your girls in them for even just one picture.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about the flip flops but those blue ones on the tutorial are really cute. I would wear those ones over the ones your pictured here.
Love the bracelet as well. I think it is really cute.
The cup is always useful and if it is something they really enjoy that would be really fun. Maybe another fun idea would be to take their coffee orders the morning of and have the drinks delivered in their new cups. What a fun surprise!

Oh boy. This project should be interesting! And thanks for the couponing suggestions.

I think the hat box will be cute, and even though I don’t wear hats I could always use more pretty storage boxes. They could use it for all sorts of different things. And I love that bracelet! You picked out a lot of cute things, I’m sure they’ll love it!

I get what you’re saying about the hat box. I felt the same way before my aunt gave me gift in one a few years ago and I loved it. I think the girls will like them.

Though round hat boxes are really pretty, I think I’d be more likely to use a rectangular box again since it could be stacked more easily. I love the idea of decoupaging them with their favorite movie or book!
I buy all my cardigans at Target and they have great prices. Maybe consider one that isn’t full length so it could be worn with dresses or with tops (and looks less mumsy).
The flip flop tutorial looks interesting.
For the couponing lady what about a subscription to a Sunday paper that she doesn’t currently get? If your area has more than one she could use the duplicates or maybe get different coupons (different companies work with different papers).

Hi! I think the hat box idea is really cute! It’s definitely a different spin on the traditional tote. Old Navy should be posting some chocolate brown cardigans soon. I got a really cute one from there last year.
I really like the flip flops tutorial! I would be concerned about making sure that they did fit my bridesmaid’s feet correctly when making them. However, I also am really good at losing patience while doing arts and crafts (though I do like them a lot), so that could just be something with me :-).
I am a sucker for water bottles. Could you give the new mom a water bottle and a gift card to somewhere?I love the personalized present idea and am hoping to work that into my gifts somehow!

@keepsmiling19: That’s a great idea! I think she’d love a funky water bottle and a gift card to Panera or something of the sort.

I took @keepsmiling19‘s advice and decided to go with a Klean Kanteen and gift card to Panera for my non coffee drinking bridesmaid. Her favorite color is orange so I think I’ll go with this one. Best part is this Kanteen and the coffee cups are like the exact same price so everything gets to be equal!

@UpstateCait: I like the personalized gifts for each one. But I am very against “gifts” that are a part of the uniform. If it is to be worn for your day to match your dresses, I don’t think it’s much of a gift for the receiver.
I would also probably throw out the hat box, because I wouldn’t have space to store it being round, and really nothing to put in it. I just would hate to see you spend your money/time on something that they may not use.

I get what you’re saying as far as the bracelet goes but the cardigan they’ll definitely be able to wear over and over again after our wedding. As for the hat box, I think they’ll all like it and find some use for it even if it’s just to store stuff (which is what I use mine for).

Oh, I also forgot to mention that I’m covering their hair as well but I don’t really consider that part of their gift.
