I thought it was going to be in French; which I personally can understand, as I have a basic understanding of French, and have been to France a lot, but I could see why others might be ‘intimidated’.

So when I read it, I was left wondering what exactly would be ‘intimidating’ about it…

I wouldn’t really care if people didn’t understand the odd word; it is food, on a plate, when all’s said and done. They can try it, or not try it because they’re ‘too scared’ of a couple of words; their loss…

I don’t see anything intimidating, sounds yummy to me!!  I’d eat all of it!  Even the pate… although the best pate I have ever had was a mushroom one.  Oooohhh….soooo good.  Now I need to make some.  A lot better than boring ole’ roast chicken and roast beef IMO Smile

@HisMoon:  Personally, I think guests should be comfortable in all aspects of your wedding.  That’s one of the first (and best) wedding tips I was ever given, and it’s so true!  I don’t think there’s any problem with having French food.  It’s not that “out there.”  But I do think it’s important to cultivate a relationship with your in-laws-to-be since they’ll be in your life forever.  Making them feel comfortable should be a priority, so long as it doesn’t compromise the integrity of the wedding you really want.

While some of the preparations might be unfamiliar I think that the majority of the ingredients are pretty well known. So the meal will likely be understood as dressed up, but not intimidating.

@peachacid:  +1000- If they think it’s too fancy, then they’ll get to try something new!
