Another thread mentioned something about tipping vendors 30% and I just about fell off my chair. That seems exorbitant to me. Maybe I’m just super cheap but the tips that I’m planning are nowhere near 30%. Obviously this all depends on performance but I’m planning on…
Photographer – $100: We booked our photographer off Craigslist when he first moved to the area. His work is great and he was willing to give us everything we wanted (8 hours of coverage, full rights to pictures, edited images on a disk & online hosted gallery for guests viewing) for $900. Because we booked him early we were able to lock in that price. Now, his base packages start at just shy of $2000.
DJ – $50: Nice guy, great DJ, but I feel like we’re overpaying. I don’t doubt that he’ll do a fantastic job but I feel like $975 for 5 hours is a bit much. He also owns the company.
Hair – $50: She’s coming to the resort and doing me, my 3 bridesmaids and my FMIL’s hair. In total I’m spending about $300 for her services. She’s the co-owner of her company.
Make-Up – $25: She’s also coming to the resort but she’s only doing mine and MOH’s makeup. She’s costing $175.
DOC – $150: We were able to score her for free on here. She was offering her services in exchange for some reviews and what not to local brides and I answered her add. She’s been great so far and I don’t doubt that she’ll kick ass at our wedding.
Venue Coordinator – Flowers after the fact: We’re already paying a 22% gratuity to the venue so I don’t feel that I really need to pay anymore. However, the venue coordinator and I have become friendly over the years (I hosted some past events at our venue) and she’s really helping us out (i.e. making it affordable). I thought that sending her a nice arrangement of flowers after the wedding would be a nice touch. What do you think? Totally lame?
What do you think about the tips? Am I totally cheap? This bitch is on a budget!
