i think i FINALLY have a design we both like… after redoing them six times.
what do you think? here’s a mock up of the invite design with names and location changed, and the rsvp card (ignore the watermarks.. it’s habit):
the lighter grey will be changed to a color.. once i decide what color i wanna do.
they’ll be in 6×6″ pocketfolds. i may letterpress, i may not. it depends on cost.
thoughts on the overall design?

I like it!! But I would like it a little better if you used a different heart and all of the words for the invitation used “justified” alignment. I think it might look better if the lettering filled out the square shape. It’s also bugging me that the heart is sort of lopsided looking.

I like the graphics, personally feels like some color would help. I did the Fiance name and mine in our wedding color to stand out. 🙂

thanks for the feedback!
@liliwo2016: i tried it justified. with all the different font sizes, it looked awful. and that heart will change. i have to find a better one. it’s just a shape i had.
@asianbarbie: it’ll have color. the heart, and all of the lighter grey text will be in color- i just haven’t decided what color to use (:

@colorofmyheart: Sounds like you’re set, =)! I really wish you were getting married at The Royal Palace far far away. That would be amazing!

I like them! My only critique would be the two “with” clauses… “with happy hearts, together with their families”… something about that just reads a little awkwardly to me. But if you like it, go for it!

My two cents:
The different kerning of CINDERELLA and PRINCE CHARMING bother me a lot when the design is typography-centric.
“…together with their families…” and “…in their life together” is maybe too many togethers.
“will celebrate in spirit from afar” sounds odd to me; I think will celebrate from afar sufficient. When I hear in spirit when talking weddings, it’s usually referring to those who have passed away.
The ellipsis on the RSVP card looks a little wonky (maybe due to resize?). You could do away with it, or adjust the spacing between the dots.

oh, more feedback. yay! thanks everyone (:
@liliwo2016: me too. i bet it would be awesome!
@shaka: oh, the kearning is that way, only to fit “prince charming” in the space. with our names, it’s evenly kearned for both (: it makes me twitchy as well with the different ones on there, but it was just to fit that in there. and the ellipsis is even on the full size. it must have gotten wonky on the resized image. the togethers.. i like it? i dunno, it works for me. and i didn’t catch the “in spirit”… you make a good point!
@LittleByLittle: it doesn’t sound weird to me.. but i’ll have Fiance read it, and see what he thinks. we don’t want parents’ names on there. i tried it with all the names, and it looked ridiculously formal. we’re not having a formal wedding. thank you, though!

the only suggestion i have is with regards to the kearning on the response date sentence, it is very tight and the loopy-ness of the fond kind of runs together a bit. perhaps drop it to just say:
we kindly request your response by XX date
that way there are less words to cram in/ fit
otherwise it looks great! be sure to post an “after” photo when you pick a color =)

- Wedding: November 2014 - Philadelphia, PA
@colorofmyheart: I really like it! The only suggestion I have is making “their life” plural by saying “their lives” since the subject “they” is plural in the following sentence:
“invite you to share in the joy and celebration as they begin a new chapter in their lives together.”

@colorofmyheart: just a note: square invitations must have extra postage because they aren’t a “standard” shape. So if you want to save on postage, I’d recommend going with 5×7

@blondie_bride: i didn’t even think of that. i’ll play around with the wording! thank you! and i’ll definitely post an “after” once we decide on colors (:
@MissGoldFish: oh! i didn’t even catch that. thank you! i’ll fix it.
@IzzyBear: yeah, i know. Fiance is in love with square invitations though. we’ll figure it out. thanks for the heads up. i figured it was slightly more expensive.

I like it. I love how the invite has the different little boxes and I love the font for the numbers! good job!
