Made some last night and let it cook all night. Here is the link. http://www.mybakingaddiction.com/crock-pot-slow-cooker-apple-butter-recipe/

I also added two big dollops of butter to it and added extra sugar (the amount of sugar depends on the apples. I started with 3/4 cup and added near the end of cook time to make it as sweet as we liked). Everyone loved it and shared with the family. Have some mason jars ready. 🙂

@hopefloats:  I’ve done it but I honestly don’t even think you need a crockpot…it doesn’t change the outcome in my opinion. I don’t have a recipe on me but you can google and use any basic recipe, but I like to add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of lemon juice (for about 10 lbs apple butter)  to give it a well-rounded flavor. It makes it 100 times better.

I’m canning apple butter as favors for my October wedding next year. We’re having a “canning party” next week to peel, core, cook, and can the apple butter. I remember loving it on toast when i was little. Hope it turns out great. Totally fits with my green apple center pieces and fall theme.
