Just curious if there are any other bees who do CrossFit? How did you get into it? Do you love it or hate it? Are you doing it for weight loss, or just for general fitness?
My Fiance and I have recently started going 3x a week and we love it! I’m sore 99% of the time, but it’s a great work out. I had heard a lot about it, but we got into it through a school friend who goes to a local CrossFit gym. I was super nervous about starting at first, because it is far more intense than any other exercise program I’ve done, but it’s paid off so far and I lost almost 7lbs my first week!

@kalixti: I do! I started about 3 weeks ago and I’m totally obsessed. My DH said it’s like I joined a new fitness cult :). So far I’ve lost about 3 – 4lbs – I wish it was more, but I’m trying to convince myself it’s because I’m gaining muscle. I have noticed that I feel stronger and this morning my DH said he could see my abs! Defintely a huge fan.
My group is doing a 30 day Paleo Diet challenge, are you guys doing anything similar?

@PinkPandaBear: That’s awesome! I definitely feel myself getting stronger and I’m looking forward to what the next few months will bring. ๐
We aren’t doing any specific diet, just counting calories and eating lots of lean protein, fruits and veggies.

I do. I’ve been going since October. Our gym offers a bootcamp class, it’s a lot like the WODs but more endurance. I started with just that and now I do both. I love it. We did a 20 day and a 30 day Paleo Challenge. It’s tough at first, but I feel so much better when I’m eating Paleo. I started one myself yesterday (final dress fitting is in 4 weeks!).

@PinkPandaBear: You probably are gaining muscle! I lost about 10 lbs combined with the two challenges, but we did body comps and I lost a lot more than 10lbs of fat and gained muscle and water.

my husband does and is in the middle of a 30 day challenge…..it is a TOTAL cult but he loves it. And I am happy he is getting healthier although I don’t agree with the strict Paleo diet

I just started doing it and it’s kicking my butt, but in a good way! I’m pretty overweight, so I’m slower than the others, but I love it so far. I get soooo much satisfaction out of these workouts vs. what I was doing before (treadmill/elliptical). I’ve now got my sister and husband committed to doing it, so it’ll be a family event!
What I love best is the sense of encouragement you get from everyone. I was super super intimidated by working out with super fit people, but everyone is so nice.
On that note though, I am super nervous about what today’s WOD is going to be. lol

I have a friend who started doing it about 2 months ago and she has lost almost 50 lbs!! She was quite heavy though so she’s seeing some pretty dramatic results…I’m so stinking happy for her! she loves it.

@Sunchick19: Paleo is just to clean out your system. A lot of people (most actually) don’t do it 100%. They will either have cheat meals/days/or introduce some things back in depending on what they are looking to do. I have issues with my sugar so it’s great for me, however I can eat dairy sometimes and be okay….but some people at our gym have found out that dairy is what makes them break out, etc. That’s why we do challenges-to see what works and what doesn’t ๐ My Fiance hates it too (He’s a meat & potatoes guy) so we just eat the same protein and he has his own sides while I eat veggies.

I did it for almost a year.
I quit because I wasn’t liking the shape of my body. Crossfit women tend to be really “in shape” but have really big legs/thighs from so many heavy squats and other olympic lifts. Although I will say I had killer abs.

@BluegrassBridetoBee: I don’t hate it, I just don’t 100% agree with the principles of it! But I generally don’t agree with elimination diets, unless someone is having a problem they are looking to isolate. and my husband is sticking to it almost 100% – everything is organic, he is using the coconut oil, raw honey, etc etc. So overally the changes are good, I just don’t like the extreme nature of it! but he is almost done ๐

@JsDragonfly: I’m right there with you! I am also one of the heavier people in the class, and was intimidated when we first started. Everyone has been awesome and encouraging though! I actually look forward to going, even if I know I’ll be sore and tired afterward.
Do you know what your WOD is today? Ours is Annie…double-unders (gotta work on getting these down) and sit-ups!
@lefeymw: That’s one of my concerns for the long-term too. I don’t want to get too bulky, but at this point I’m happy for the general weight loss and fitness. ๐

I started crossfit about 2 months ago and I am absolutely obsessed! My new motto is “it hurts so good!” At this very moment I am wincing as I try and sit down… this morning’s WOD consisted of 180 jumping squats, jumping jacks and double-unders. OUCH!!
I quickly put on 40 pounds after my fiance and I started dating a couple of years ago and I have not been able to lose it. I just recently moved to a new city for a new job and I immediately googled “gyms” in the area and the closest gym just so happened to be a crossfit gym. I signed up the day I moved and I haven’t regretted a single moment! The scale isn’t moving much yet, but my muscles are already noticeable and my clothes are starting to fit better. My fiance tells me that my butt is starting to look more defined too hahaha.
I’m hooked on crossfit and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. The team mentality of the box is unlike anything I’ve experienced before.
I have researched Paleo a little but don’t know if it’s something I could ever fully adapt to. Even the head coach of my box doesn’t follow a strict Paleo diet. He has cheat days too.

I was actually just considering it because I don’t feel like I’m seeing enough results from the women’s gym I joined the beginning of the year. I’m just not sure if it’s for me. It’s so intimidating! And I definitely don’t want big legs….hmmm….
