I would talk to the manager and see if you can get a different trainer.  If not, I would try to cancel.

EDIT: Just saw your reply.  I have no idea what I would do!  Maybe tell him you are moving?  I know that fibbing is not always great, but IDK how to tell someone, “Hey you are creepy and sexist.  Cancel my contract.”

Read your contract to see if there are any ways to buy out of the contract.  Otherwise it’s time to have a conversation with him.  Tell him what topics you find rude and/or off limits.  He probably doesn’t know any better and like most guys if you don’t tell them they don’t know.

That said, lifting heavy is a great way to lose fat and tone muscle but you won’t necessarily see that change on the scale unless it measures your body fat percentage.  I suggest buying measuring tape and tkaing your measurements once a week to see your actual progress.  Crossfit is built around lifting and that should have been explained to you at some point before signing the contract.  If you think you need cardio in addition to the lifting then add it three times a week for at least a half an hour.

Lifting is actually really good for you. That said, you should be doing some cardio too.

Have you made him aware that you’re uncomfortable with the conversation topics he’s choosing?

@beachbride1216:  Exactly what I was thinking. I thought Crossfit was built around weight lifting.

Maybe try talking to him – some people try so hard to be cool/casual around others that they don’t realize how offensive they can be. Otherwise, contact Crossift corporate office. If the guy is a legit Crossfit franchisee, he’s got to answer to them.

That being said – weight lifting is great for you! How long have you been trying it?

Is your monthly fee on a credit card?  Call the cc company and say they no longer have permission to take monthly drafts.

Ugh, that’s a tough one. I tried to get out of my gym contract because one of the personal trainers there was sexually harrassing me (standing and staring at me when I’m the treamill, cat calls, always offering to “stretch” me), and the gym basically said no. I’m sure I could have put more effort into pursing it, but the gym was so cheap ($15/month), I just chalked it up to my loss and tried to time my workouts when he wasn’t there. The trainer ended up quiting a few months later, but it really sucked. I definitley feel you.

Confrontation is always uncomfortable, but just try to say something. Next time he starts a convo like that, just say “hey, Bob, I appreciate our close relationship, but conversations like this make me uncomfortable. Could we keep our topics crossfit related?”.

@anthrogirl:  If he does, I would document the inapproapriate sexual conversations.  That is harrassment.

EDIT to add – I know a Crossfit owner, I emailed him.  I would also file a complaint with the BBB.  They will ask what you want done to resolve the issue.

Notify the Crossfit main office so they can discipline him.  It sounds like he needs to know his conversation topics are inappropriate and if you feel uncomfortable going directly to him, then you need to speak to someone in authority over him.  Crossfit’s main office should be able to delete the contract and I would pressure them since you could make some really bad press for his franchise location and I am sure they wouldn’t want that.
