There is A LOT of feedback here already but i cant stress enough how much i love RCCL. and when ive been on my rccl cruises ive even heard adults on there speak of having the best experience on rccl vs carnival and princess. i havent heard of others though. i hear carnival is lots of partying – but theres partying too on rccl. older people but still so much fun and theyre such a joy to hang out with! that could be because Fiance and i rather spend time and be around older couples than us (were 25) rather than obnoxious drunks who pay no attention to the ppl or space around them. ive heard carnival rooms are smaller and more outdated as well. and rccl food being better. were cruising rccl for our honeymoon in august as well πŸ™‚ it was Fiance last time last november of 2011 and before 2012 is over he will have been on 4 cruises with rccl! we LOVE them. we make friends and are treated like such royalty by the workers.

    good luck with your search!

@Misscandice8907:  thats why im so afraid to try a carnival cruise! i get so angry at young drinkers.. or old drinkers lol that can be so disrespectful! i drink.. not near as much now as in the past of course lol. Fiance and i had drinks at dinner and sometimes 1 or 2 during the day while laying out. but not a lot. i suppose were more social drinkers. lol we werent drunk ever but it was nice to not be disturbed by drunks either! the rccl cruises have so many events for fun! bingo every day, dance lessons and contests, live music all around, evening shows with music, comedians, magicians. i would just say not to book excursions through rccl if you do choose them – too expensive because when you get off the ship youll find that you can book them for cheaper thru the islands!

and OH EM GEE. the oasis! were going on that ship in november. we couldnt get it for our honeymoon but i am DYING to get on that ship.

another reason why i will probably only cruise rccl for the rest of my life is because they give you points and memberships… gold, diamond, platinum etc. and then the more nights you cruise the more points you get – giving you great discounts, the ability to skip the lines when you board the ships (prepare yourself. lines at the port to board (only you first time on.. not at every point) takes a long time! but im sure thats every ship… discounts on drinks, $ to spend on board, even FREE cruises. so now i feel like if i go anywhere else, im afraid to dislike it and constantly compare that cruise line to rccl and be bummed out by not chooing rccl, and be bummed out that id be missing points on our membership!

We’re “Diamond” members on Royal Caribbean… so if that says anything we love cruising RCCL! We’ll be honeymooning on The Allure of the Seas in November too πŸ™‚

@Misscandice8907:  they have a game show one night called love and marriage – and they get a couple thats on their honeymoon, a couple thats been married like 10-15 yrs and an older couple thats been married the longest… its the funniest show ever. on my 2nd cruise, the oldest couple won. i keep wondering if Fiance and i are gunna do it! — definitely dont sound like an old lady, i feel the same way as you! my first time on rccl i was 20 and it still worked perfectly! as soon as you enroll, you get a crown and anchor number – (crown and anchor is their membership) and you get locked in your first time cruising. my last cruise was FI’s first time and in our room we still had a booklet for each of us with savings and discounts inside our room πŸ™‚ and then the anchor number is how theyre able to track all of your nights and cruises! i cant remember if they work with the celebrity cruise line or not.. since theyre owned by the same company as rccl.

i am so anxious to go on oasis! both of my rccl cruises were on the mariner of the seas, our honeymoon on the freedom and our november cruise is on oasis. it has 7 neighborhoods. NEIGHBORHOODS! and a zip line from one end of the ship to the next. oh my lanta. i was so taken back by the mariner even after being on it 2 times, there were new things and on the 9th day of my 2nd time on the mariner there were still paintings and sculptures that id never seen before. Fiance and i were leaving to get off the ship on our last day and were like wait a minute… we never seen that before, we must have never been on this stair case! the mariner had an ice rink on it and mini golf course too.. so i really cant wait to see the oasis. its their newest biggest ship and i wanted to get on it before they release their newer line of ships!

@Misscandice8907:  here is a link to the member benefits and how they work… they go by nights vs cruises.. ive only been on 2 cruises but i have 18 pts because they were each 9 nights. so im still at the gold, and Fiance only has 9 points so hes gold too. so ill get to the newer level before him.. but the nice thing is that if hes cruising with me, he gets the benefits as well. ie: when i reach the point where i can skip pass the line – he would be able to skip the line as well even if he doesnt have the right amount of points. and the last one we were on, i got invited to a special welcome back dinner with the captain for being a returning cruiser.. and he got to come with.

on our last cruise, a couple got honored on stage one night before a show – for being on their 804th night! THAT IS A LOT OF CRUISES.

@Misscandice8907:  It took a little bit of time, but Fiance and I looked at the ship excursions, found the ones we were interested in, and then I just googled them- so there was an ATV tour in one of the places, so I just googled “ATV tour” “St Thomas” found the companies that came up and emailed them explaining I would be there at x time and needed to be back to the ship at x time and just booked it through them.  Some of the tours were through different companies than the ship used but most of them were the same companies, we just got an early morning tour with them or something like that!

I have been to many many cruises (LOVE!).. All of them were Norwegian, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean.  I can tell you that Celebrity & Royal Caribbean are in a top class of their own.  The Celebrity cruise I went on was mostly a geriatric-type population, yet it was still one of the best cruises I’ve ever been on.. super classy!

If you want cheaper, more of a “party atmosphere” go with Carnival. It’s really fun, but definetly not a luxury experience. I always have an awesome time, though! Royal Carribean is more upscale and seems a bit more luxurious in my opinion. More families, less young spring breaker types.

@Misscandice8907:  yes it probably does – i think they may all have an ice rink. one of the nights theres an ice show as well. be sure to pack something for your formal nights. Fiance and i LOVE those. because we love to dress up and be classy. and we love pictures. when were home and in our busy daily lives, how often does a couple get to get all dressed up and schnazzy together?! they also have a themed night… i think both of mine were disco 70s theme, i cant remember exactly but i dont think theres a way to find out the nights before hand. just another exciting thing that goes on around the ship tho! we plan on cruising every year too, if not twice a year. its such a good way to see many places! with booking excursions too… you can do it the way @anchors_away did it – or when you get off the ship at some ports, there are islanders around offering excursions and taxi ways to them. i know cozumel is one where we got off the ship, chatted with some of the islanders and ended up swimming with dolphins for 45 minutes for about $35 when on the ship they charge about $100! it was still safe and everything was done professionally, we were on time for things and it all worked out! im so excited for u!

@Misscandice8907:  Seems like you’ve got a ton of good advice. I prefer newer ships = just in general nicer and clean. I’ve sailed Princess, Celebrity and Royal Carribean. I’d rank them in that order too – with Princess being the best in my book. I liked the staff and thought the food was best. I’m 33 yrs old if that helps πŸ™‚

***Also, definiately worth the $$ for a balcony room. You will love it. It enhances the experience so much more and makes the room feel so much bigger. We always enjoy sitting on the balcony after a day on the shore, right before dinner and first thing in the morning πŸ™‚

for the pictures – we go to every photographer before dinner and get ours taken professionally. at the end of each night they print ur pictures and put them in the photo display.. i always wonder why because i feel like they waste so many pictures if people dont want them, or you can buy them all. thats what Fiance and i did because it was our first cruise together, we had just gotten engaged and thought heck why not! ps. if you want – we can be FB friends and you can check out my albums from our cruise on the mariner with rccl! we even had a photographer from the ship come off with us and do an engagement shoot! for our honeymoon, we plan to do the same for a TTD session!
