Carnival is definitely a younger vibe cruise line. Not sure if that is what you want for your honeymoon. I have heard great things about Celebrity. I’ve only cruised on Carnival and Norwegian myself though. For my next cruise I would definitely give Celebrity a try.

Most cruise lines have very similiar itineraries with a choice of Eastern or Western, and maybe a different cruise line specific “private island” thrown in there.

If you want to get a really unique 7 or 8 day itinerary take a cruise starting in San Juan, PR tons of port days that aren’t the norm when leaving from Florida.

As for cruise lines, let me start out saying I have never cruised with Royal but I have gone with Holland America, Princess, Carnival, and Celebrity. For my honeymoon I would say Carnival would be the lowest on the list of those four, its a nice fun vacation with Carnival but I want something a little bit nicer/classier for my honeymoon. I would totally sail with them again for a regular vacation if the price was right.

Personally I am thinking of breaking my fiance in with Celebrity (he’s never cruised for all those cruises I have done). I think he’ll like it the most with the choices they have on board and the unlimited beverage package would definitely make him a happy camper.

I personally wouldn’t go on a Carnival cruise for my honeymoon.  I’d go with Celebrity or Princess instead.

We did Carnival for our honeymoon, and it was fantastic! We were even chosen to be the newlyweds on the “Married” game show, where three couples were asked questions and had to guess their spouses answers. So much fun and highly recommended!

Carnival and Royal are essentially the same. I book whichever is cheaper at the time.

Norwegian cruise lines are really good as well.  I’ve been on them, Royal Caribbean and Carnival.  My least favorite was Carnival…..the ship I was on was really smokey and really small!

We went on the Carnival Liberty in November 2011, right after it was renovated. Oh my God. It was amazing! It’s definitely for the younger crowd, but definitely contained aspects for the older crowd. I can definitely say that we’re planning on taking our honeymoon on the Liberty again when it goes to the Eastern Caribbean rather than the West, which is where we went before.

I second the votes for Celebrity. Their focus is more about food, spa, and enrichment activities more than Royal or Carnival which have more of a party or “thrills” kind of vibe (I.e., you won’t find rock-climbing walls or wave simulator pools). It’s a great fit for a bit more upscale, romantic cruise experience. Go for it!

We’re doing a 10-day on Norwegian.  I do think that Royal Caribbean is nicer, but we could do a 10 day on Norwegian in a suite for cheaper than a 7 day Royal with a balcony.  We usually cruise Norwegian because we like their freestyle dining option.

When looking for our honeymoon cruise, we talked to a huge amount of people who have done all kinds of cruises.  Royal Carribean was unanimously vated the best cruiseline.  Carnival was voted as the worst (except by those people who had only been on a carnival cruise and not other cruise lines).

We are actually going on the Allure…what did you think about it? Any advice?

I’ve never been on a cruise, so marking this for reference! We are thinking of taking a cruise next year for our belated honeymoon.
