I’ve been on two – Norwegian and Celebrity. NCL was cheap, but Celebrity was definitely nicer. I’d also recommend leaving from FL, or if you’re going to Bermuda (since it’s closer than the Carribean), leave from Baltimore or Philly, so you get to spend more time on land, not from NY or NJ.

I love cruising! I’ve been on 7 cruises, mostly Carnival but also Royal Caribbean and Holland America. I’m not sure what kind of tips you’re looking for, so I’ll just tell you a few things I’ve learned. Cruising during the off season is cheaper and you can often have better weather (like in the spring it won’t be scorching hot!). As for the boat, if your room is in the front or center of the ship you will feel less motion than in the back. A lot of people aren’t aware of this, but at sit down meals you can order more than one appetizer or entree. This is your time to splurge, so if you see something you like, try it.

I have never been on a cruise, but I love them so much that I have read tons of things about them

Its something small, but one thing that I have read is if you have your balcony door open, DO NOT open the door to the hallway. I have heard that you will get A HUGE gust of wind. One lady said that she was sitting on the bed, when the hallway door was opened and she was practically pushed off the bed. ( When I do go on a cruise, Im gonna do this for funzies). 🙂

If you want opinions and other things cruises, I would suggest going to cruisecritic.com. They are also on Facebook. Anyway, there is so much info on all kinds of cruises here that should help you. Plus tons of reviews for tons of cruise ships.

Good luck.

I went on a Carnival cruise when I was underage, haha.   It was FUN!

I’d recommend buying liquor on the port stops and drinking that, their drinks are expensive!  We paid like 12 dollars for a pina colada (yes, I illegally drank. Lol).

also the bathrooms can be kind of small, the shower is pretty much just a curtain that you pull and stand in the corner, right by the toilet.  So thats kinda shitty, but its not bad.

I’d say just stick with a basic room (we had 4 single beds – bunk beds were stored IN the ceiling and pulled down! so cool) but I haven’t been in a stateroom.  The girl whos parents I went with, they had a stateroom, and it just was a bigger bed and a small window.  If you’re just gonna party, just get the cheap rooms!  They still come down and turn down your sheets, and put a candy on your pillow everynight and make the towel animals.

The other thing, with the rooms without windows – it gets really dark.  You can lose track of time if you sleep in because theres no light.

Take advantage of the nice blacktie formal dinners every night.  You meet some great people at the tables, and you’ll get to know your waiter well.  I remember the food at the dinners being superb.

Oh – and take advantage of the “free” food!  You can get them to bring you breakfast in bed every day.

We went on a cruise out of Baltimore and LOVED it!  It was the perfect amount of time on the ship and in ports.  It was honestly the best trip we’ve been on and we can’t wait to do it again.  Try to at least get a room with a window.  It’s so cool looking out (we were near the bottom, so when the seas got rough, the waves would crash up to our window!).  Definitely take advantage of meals.  Like Bichon said, you can order as much as you want.  Make sure you pack some clothes in a carry on bag just in case it takes a while for your luggage to make it to your room.  If you go to Nassau, get rum cakes!  The pineapple rum cake is awesome.  Also, stay away from Senor Frogs.  Go to the little local restaurants and bars.  Excellent food and extremely friendly people.  Be careful walking around because people drive like maniacs!

@BoiledPNut:  I love Senor Frogs! Probably the most fun I’ve had on a cruise was there!
