I just bought 3 oval stones from Stargems and despite Sue being incredibly helpful I have been left feeling very disappointed by the quality of what I received. I wasn’t sure what size I wanted to so I ordered an EF excellent cut Oval Moissy in 6 x 8, 5 x 8 & 5 x 7.

The two smaller stones were not very well cut and were a GHI colour and therefore not suitable. The 6 x 8 was very lovely however, discovered today that there is an internal fracture in the stone. I requested a return and refund on the two smaller stones and was offered a 90% discount… When I accepted this through Alibaba I was then advised that it was an error and was only 10%. They were not too keen on a refund at all. I pushed back and eventually negotiated a 40% discount on the purchase of a 7 x 9 Crushed Ice Oval which Sue assures me she has personally handpicked and ensured it is perfect.

So far I have been left really disappointed with my purchase which in Aussie dollars was over $335 for the first 3 stones and with the discount nearly $200 for the crushed Ice.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt until I receive my new stone and see if they can redeem themselves. It’s a shame as everyone on here is so positive about there quality. Service, however, has been excellent.

If you’re going for an oval moissanite I would highly recommend the mixed cut (brilliant & crushed ice). StarsGems made one and I was impressed.its the most diamond like I’ve seen between the 2 common options. It’s less spindly than the brilliant and has less of a plastic look than crushed ice in day light settings. I’m hoping to get one day. They’re lovely.

Hi guys! I’m in the middle of drawing up my 12×8 oval moissanite solitaire ring with Sophia, but I’m having a hard time deciding between crushed ice or the H&A cut for an oval? Anyone have any tips or advice? My priority regarding the stone is 1. very white look 2. no bowtie if at all possible, and 3. as little rainbow color as possible.

Hey bees! Does anyone have, or even know of, a H&A cut OVAL moissanite from Starsgem or Tianyu? Both companies are telling me that H&A cut is the best for no bowtie and lots of whiteness, but yet neither company have any H&A ovals on their Instagram, and nobody on any forums seems to have any pics, although both companies telling me its a very popular cut for ovals? Please help!!
