I am a mess right now.
I went on my second fitting last Tuesday. When I put on the dress, the corset wouldn’t completely close near the bottom (this wasn’t a cause for concern last time). The seamstress said she could move the panel over. She said she thought I could slim down a bit, but she didn’t seem quite so confident.
I also went in when I was starting my period, and I definitely felt bloated. She also said that this was quite a big change from last time, so I’m hoping this was part of it. Needless to say, I am a nervous WRECK. I also have a feeling she was making fun of me as I left, because there was a bride in front of me (who was in perfect shape, of course, and was worried about every detail of her dress) that they teased after she left.
Plus, my bachelorette party is the day before I pick up my dress. I want to drink and have fun with my girls, but I think this is going to make me nervous that I won’t fit into my dress. I have been working out a little more recently. I started walking/jogging with my cousin, and I did a weights workout tonight. I started using My Fitness Pal.
Does anybody have any advice on some quick weight loss tricks? I’m desperate.

avoid high sodium foods/drinks! that can make you retain water and bloat as well. don’t worry, i’ll bet part of the problem was the bloating. cleanse your system with lots of water, raw fruits, and raw vegetables!!!

Start scarfing down those leafy greens and colorful veggies…no juice or soda!! Only water, with some lemon. Brown rice, low salt…whole grains…drink TONS of water. And get moving….it helps!
You will debloat in no time.

Lots of water, balanced diet and move, move, move! Your period might have caused the bloating, I agree. I guess when you’re far from it or the pre-menstrual phase your dress will fit perfectly.

Cut out the carbs… all carbs including fruits and starchy veggies… cut out alcohol .. (aside from bachelorette;) ) and drink lots of water. The weight will fall off in no time.

Try to hit 10,000 steps per day…move, move, move! One workout or one jog isn’t enough.

Definitely no carbs after 5pm, and lots of fruits and veggies, and no sweet drinks. Drink tons of water! Good luck! Join us on MFP! 😀

Thanks everyone! I got up and did a strength training session on the Biggest Loser DVD after I posted this. That made me feel better. Thanks for all the diet suggestions…I will be carrying my water bottle with me all day :-). Time to go to the grocery store!
@pengoala: Does the hive have a user name on MFP? I would love to join up with everyone!

Oh my god, the same thing happened to me! I went in for a fitting on my period and omg, it’s at least a 5 lb difference if not more IMO. DOn’t worry, but the other bees are right, keep the sugar to a minimum, go for lean proteins you cook, with little or no salt, not processed foods. Also, drink tons of water to help flush you out. My dress is a zipper back so it was even worse! But seriously, even though I was good that weekend before I went back for my 5th/6th fitting (I know, crazy) I promise the period bloat was the key factor.

I’m going to be in the pre-menstrual phase on my wedding day and I’m so afraid I won’t be able to zip my dress completely, this is why I can relate with you!

I’m panicked, too! The stress of being so close has gotten me eating like a COW. Before my portrait, I worked really hard to cut carbs as much as possible…breadless sandwiches, no potatoes, lots of water, and it worked! I’m just trying really hard to do the same. We can do it!

Cut out sugar and anything “white”… White bread, flour, white rice, etc. Avoid anything refined or processed! When cutting out sugar, your body will crave it in the first few days but you’ll begin to crave it less and less. Reduce carbs in general.. Use olive oil in place of butter or other oils for cooking. You can’t lose with grilled chicken, steamed veggies and a fistful of brown rice for dinner. It’s good for cleansing your colon too..! Tons of fiber “flushes” out your system. More importantly, staying away from fatty foods makes you less lethargic and more energetic. Good luck! Also, if you MUST have alcohol.. Either water & vodka (tastes like butt but does the job!) or low-cal beers (Michelob Ultra is a good one)

drink vanilla vodka + coke zeros all night! if you don’t do artificial sweeteners, then do citrus vodka + water + fresh sqeezed lemon on the rocks.
As for eating, just eat tons of raw veggies and lean meat like baked chicken breasts and seafood. Eggs are good too – try fried with a little shredded cheese on top. Avoid carbs, especially at night. Next time you’re home for a day try laxatives (take the night before, they kick in after about 12 hrs and the effects last about a day).
Work out as much as you can, and try to do about 100 crunches and as many pushups as you can before bed each night, that should take you about 5 minutes.
Drink lots of cold water with fresh lemon.
Take colder showers.
Good luck, hang in there!!!
