I’m sure this has been asked before, but does anyone have tried and true cry proof wedding makeup tips? I’m going to use Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and Tarte Shape Tape concealer, setting with the Laura Mercier transluscent powder. Setting with Urban Decay setting spray. I cried my eyes out at my bridal shower and all of my makeup under my eyes was gone and a mess! Any tips?

Hang on, at your shower were you using the setting spray? For me, Tarte stays in place when I’m crying! I don’t really know how it manages to stay in place when other brands don’t…and I accidentally wipe at my eyes too because I don’t always wear make-up.
You may find that you don’t actually cry on the day. I was so overwhelmed by places to be that I didn’t have a moment to cry(!) But it was heavily raining on my wedding day…

Yes! I used everything at my shower that I am going to be using on the wedding day as my ”trial”. Well I ended up crying me eyes out and for some reason it took off my under eye makeup. And of course streaked my bronzer. I was able to re-apply more under eye concealer and bronzer and that did the trick. But I have a feeling I am going to look like a hot mess walking down the aisle!

Ugh, that’s rubbish! You need a good base for starters – I personally don’t find that primers help me. I have used many different high-end ones and they just make my make-up fall off of my face which is the opposite of what it’s supposed to do! What helps me is a nicely moisturized but matte base so no funny business with your moisturiser or eye cream – it has to sink into your skin. I think we brides will read about all of these must have products for the big day but I think we can change what we know too much.
I’ve heard some great things about IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye for its waterproof qualities but it doesn’t work for everyone – perhaps you could trial it at a beauty store? But in theory, if your base is on point your make-up won’t have anywhere to go. No amount of setting spray will help if the basics aren’t right to begin with.
Perhaps a Bee can suggest an eyeliner which stays put! My MUA used a brown liner on me so it was less noticeable if it shifted a little. I can’t remember the brand though…
