Royal Doulton is affected too? Damn. And I was so looking forward to getting all my Monique Lhuillier china =(
Supposedly the company will keep operating until a buyer is found. I’m hoping that means brides won’t really be affected.
Royal Doulton would be affected as well. They’ve applied in the UK for "administration" and are looking for a buyer. Why oh why don’t they have "ballet ribbon" in their factory store?
I can’t believe it! Would you recommend not registering for their china? What if they’re not around in twenty years when you have to replace dishes!?
I have no idea about whether or not to register for them.
However, for replacing china years from now- patterns are retired all the time. http://www.replacements.com has LOTS of old patterns for sale.
My guy actually INFORMED ME of this on sunday(I couldn’t believe he actually did that..not exactly a guy’s favorite kind of company mind you )! In his profession he deals with many companies and he heard the buzz actually last week. He wanted to make sure that I didn’t already have some waterford and if I in fact wanted us to register for waterford.
Our thoughts on the subject are that it will be bought out. But there is that ??? factor always. They aren’t a bank or a car company so Uncle Sam isn’t going to likely bail them out and they will either be bought out or sadly have a demise.
My wonderful guy says that it could be more expensive in the future if you need to get one replaced. Companies like replacements dot com specialize in out of stock or patterns no longer carried but they come with a price tag. Just be careful packing your crystal!
