Has anyone had a wedding here, been to a wedding here, or recently priced one? I’m really beginning to think this is my #1 pick for a ceremony & reception venue in a few years but I haven’t formally inquired yet since I’m still “waiting” for the ring. 🙂

I’ve been to a formal event here, and it was soooo nice! Way out of our price range, though. I think it’s nearly impossible to have a wedding in most “prime” Chicago venues with under $40,000.

Artichoke, a friend of mine got married here. She had her reception in one of the boats (Odyssey, I believe) after the ceremony in the Crystal Gardens. The Crystal Gardens was nice, of course! Not a big fan of eating in the boat — never know which guest could get sea sick, y’know. I think guests still had to pay for parking in Navy Pier, though. That was the bad side to it. Last time I went to Crystal Gardens was Jan 2010. They had a sign w/ phone # to contact if you want to have your special occassion held there. Happy planning!

I went to Chicago 2 years ago and the Navy Pier was sooo much fun!! We went to a wedding that was held at the Drake – gorgeous!!
I know my comments didn’t help but just wanted to throw my 2cents in :o)

Thanks ladies! I also looked into the Odyssey yacht but I considered it to be too iffy.

The Drake was my second choice actually in their Palm Court. I wanted to have the palm trees. 🙂

Bumping this because this is my dream venue if I move my wedding to Chicago (which is looking necessary at this point.)

@pierogi: Hi! We very seriously considered crystal gardens. It’s gorgeous. 2 main reasons why we didn’t go with the venue was (1) I heard from several people that the sound quality is not very good in there, i.e. there’s a ton of echoing so the sound isn’t very clear and (2) it’s still kind of open to the public so you can have random people walking nearby unless you rent out the entire crystal gardens (I think for a party of 200, which is what we were considering – you jus rent out half of the crystal gardens). But their wedding coordinator was super nice and responsive, so that was a plus.

I went to a wedding here last summer. The location is awesome- very Chicago. You need a big guest list to fill the place in. At times, I felt like the tables were secluded because of the palm trees in between each table. The pictures turned out awesome though!
