Sounds cute! I would be worried about guests (or me, if I was a guest, lol) nomming on these freely throughout the night though and then there being none left for the actual cake cutting/feeding event.

It’s hard to have food out and people not eat it.

Yeah I would eat them.  I have no control of what pastries end up in my mouth at parties lol.

This is an amazing idea!!!! As long as you don’t care if they are eaten before the cake cutting I think this would be seriously cool & I would love it as a guest.

I love the cupcake center piece idea.  It does double duty and is so yummy.  I had thought of doing different flavors of cake at different tables to encourage guest to cruise around and mingle to find their favorite flavor.

@beeloved: You’d just need to add a few words to your signs like “Please wait for the bride and groom to cut the cake to eat, share, or take us home!” But it depends on you aesthetic. Or maybe you could put them on these instead? A little more of a hint, lol..

We’re doing cupcake centrepieces too! But we’re doing additional favours. I don’t really care if people eat them before we do our cake cutting (we’re cutting a cupcake in half) because they’re not going to eat the ones at our table.

I think its a really cute idea. And does it really matter if they get eaten before the cake cutting ceremony? You can still do your cake cutting regardless of the cupcakes on the table. I think if I was a guest and saw a sign that said don’t eat me until cake cutting I would be like why? If I want my cupcake now, I’ll eat it now.

What a great idea.  Wish I had thought of it!  There are so many beautiful things that bakers can do with the cupcakes.

I am not having a cake, but am having other desserts and cupcakes.  I got favor boxes for those who are too full to eat their cupcake to take it home.

My best friend did this at her wedding and as others have said, people started eating the cupcakes right away, But, part of the reason was because they had a long gap between people arriving at the reception and the meal. But, she used them as her centerpieces and the cupcakes were a hit!
