I wanted cupcakes, because I love them a ton, but it was cheaper to do it the other way. For a 3 tier cake, and two sheet cakes, I’m paying around $300. Cupcakes would have been around $80.

Have you called around to places? I’m going through a grocery store, but they have rave reviews, and their cake decorator is amazing.

Check with your venue/caterer to see if there are any cake-cutting fees.  I think that part of the popularity of cupcakes in recent years can be attributed to people circumventing the cutting fees.

Agreed about cake cutting fees.  We’re having a small cake to cut and going with cupcakes for guests because it’s much, much lower cost even just for the cupcakes themselves than the cost we were quoted for a cake like I would have really wanted.  And cupcakes are in and you can have more flavor variety 🙂
