For reference, we will be having a brunch/early afternoon reception. Our menu includes cookies and brownies (that I don’t think we can substitute), but we were also thinking of having something additional for the “cake cutting”.
We were originally planning on having a traditional wedding cake, but we have recently found out that our venue charges a hefty cake cutting fee.
Would you prefer cupcakes or donuts? For both, we would have a number of different flavors to choose from.

Doughnuts would be super cute for an early wedding, but since it’s to substitute the “cake cutting” I’d say cupcakes. Doughnuts would just add another treat alongside the cookies and brownies imo

Donuts! If I went to a brunch reception and they served me an awesome selection of donuts, that would be a detail I would remember and tell everyone about!

alexam : 100% cupcakes!
With cupcakes, it’s also easy to get gluten free and/or vegan options, if that’s important for your guests.

That is a tough decision! As you are not having a wedding cake I would go for cupcakes, but if you were I would definitely go for donuts! I have always dreamed of having a donut wall at my own wedding!

Donuts! It’s more unique and on theme with brunch.

Donuts, but I’m not a cupcake person. And I think they are less messy for guests to eat with their hands.

Donuts 100%. I’m weird and really don’t like cupcakes generally. Donuts would be so fun though. I went to a friend’s fall wedding several years ago and they had an arrangement of fresh cider donuts. It was amazing. Also, if you go through a good bakery you can easily get gluten free and vegan. They used to bring in donuts every Friday at my last company and hands down the best donut on the menu was the vegan cinnamon sugar (and I’m not vegan).
