isabellep :  We are doing cake, this was one of the few things that my Fiance was very particular about. He wanted a traditional wedding cake!

isabellep :  We had a wedding cake because I didn’t want to miss out on the cake cutting experience and we don’t regret a thing. Our cake was phenomenal ๐Ÿ™‚ and you can always have some other desserts at a dessert table if you’d really like.

We’re doing 6 kinds of cupcakes (vanilla, chocolate, funfetti, german chocolate, red velvet, and chai.) We’ll also have a small cake with a cake topper that we can cut which was very important to my fiance. I have the worst sweet tooth of anyone I know, so I was having a LOT of different flavors damnit!

We did a cake with two flavours. It was delicious. Loved it. We had the cake in the centre of a dessert room with donuts, chocoloate covered strawberries, macarons, cookies, etc.!

We did cupcakes, it was the easiest way to offer several flavors. We still did the cake cutting, every wedding I’ve been to that had cupcakes still did a cake cutting.

People loved our cupcakes! We got a lot of compliments on them ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with PP, cupcakes and then a small cake to cut.

At my wedding, we will only serves cupcakes and mini cupcakes with different flavors. That way people can choose if they prefer to eat chocolate or vanilla or something else. We are not doing the cake cutting so I won’t have a small cake to cut as well.

As a guest and as a wedding coordinator, guests like cupcakes because it is small and easy to grabs. Only at one weddibg the guests didn’t touch the cupcakes and I even tried one, they taste bad and dry. It turn out that the Baker froze the cupcakes so she won’t have to do it the day of or the day before.

The “problem” with cake, at many weddings, guest are already mostly full and will discard their leftovers or some guest won’t like the flavor of your cake.t

The most important things is to make sure your cake and cupcakes are fresh and tasty.

We did both. WE had a cake for cake cutting but then we served cupcakes to everyone else.

We are doing cupcakes. I am gluten free, as is my sister, and I can get some gluten free for us, and then our guests can enjoy all of the other yummy flavors, cuz let’s face it, gluten free baked goods aren’t that good. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I may still order a small cake, but honestly, we’re having a small wedding and I’m not at all traditional. So if we cut a cupcake instead of a cake…eh.

We had a small cutting cake (with a cake topper) and cupcakes. This ended up saving us money, but the real reason we did it was for convenience–we didn’t want people to have to wait for a cake cutting to enjoy some dessert.

Part of me is still disappointed I didn’t steal the Western Pennsylvania tradition of the cookie table. I’m a sweets girl at heart.

isabellep :  I’d much rather have potato chips or pretzels over cake, but I don’t think most people would like to see a potato chip buffet instead of cake. Yes. I’m weird. ๐Ÿ™‚
