I think what would bother me most is the plastic cups.  I really don’t like disposable stuff.  But the red cup idea sounds kind of cute with the whole fire hall thing.

I don’t think you even need to personalize cups (unless you want to).  Clear plastic cups sound fine to me.  Red solo cups remind me of undergrad parties and beer pong.

You maybe able to rent glass barware for relatively cheap if it’s allowed in the building.  I’m not crazy for the plastic cup idea, but that may only be because it totally wouldn’t fit our venue/theme.  It could be cute at a firehall.

I am sorry, but I had to laugh. I am also not a fan of plastic. However, if you are going for a bar-b-que atmosphere, I think they should be fine. The personalized cups would be awesome, but they are an added expense that you probably could allocate somewhere else. If you are going to use plastic, it should be consistent.

I agree with @Jordynrose, red solo cups remind me of college dorm/frat parties :/ An easy solution would be to just buy regular clear plastic cups without the personalization. Kinda like these (sorry for the big picture!):
