We’ve narrowed it down to Curacao or Antigua… and maybe St. Croix for our mid-October honeymoon.
I know it’s hurricane season, which is why we nixed Turks & Caicos, which is even higher risk than Antigua.
We’d like to do an all inclusive and we didn’t find any we liked in Curacao; however, Curacao is lower risk in terms of hurricanes…
We mainly like to snorkel/scuba dive and I understand both locations are good for this?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been to either place, especially in October.
We’ll get trip insurance either way.

Definitely buy trip insurance! I’m a pretty crazed scuba diver. Curacao has much better diving than Antigua. Really, if diving and snorkeling are important, I don’t recommend Antigua.
In Curacao, I’d suggest you look at the Marriott (more “american” type service) or the Kura Hulands’s Beach resort (more remote and romantic) http://www.kurahulanda.com/en/lodge
Another place I’d consider if it were my honeymoon:
Anse Chastanet in St. Lucia – beautiful property, romantic, great food, good diving and snorkeling http://www.ansechastanet.com/ Their beachfront rooms don’t really sit on the beach, but have nice garden views and are the least expensive! The food is awesome for an all inclusive. If you aren’t a big drinker, this is a great choice.
Another important consideration is flight time. What city are you departing from? A direct flight will make life so much easier. Grand Cayman, Maya Riveria/Cancun/Cozumel and all of the Virgin Islands also have good diving and snorkeling.

My fiance and I just vacationed in Curacao this past April and we loved it. We stayed at the Curacao Marriott Beach resort and took taxis into Willemsted each day. Unlike many other Caribbean destinations, I felt like it offered a great mix of beach vacation with historical site seeing. I will warn you in advance, though, that the Marriott’s room’s are just okay, but the pool and beach area are fantastic.
If you go to Curacao, let me know if you want info about historical sites and restaurants in Willemsted.

Thanks everyone for your help! We decided on Curacao! We’re going to stay at the Hyatt and rent a car so we can do some exploring…
@FutureMrsChihuahua – we’ve had zero time to look into things to do/places to eat in Curacao, so I’d welcome any recommendations you may have!
