- Wedding: June 2014
We are working on the guest list to send out Save the Dates and that will finalize our invite list. This is where I’m curious about how many guests to invite and RSVP rates. I’ve heard both ways on the issues of RSVP rates. One camp says don’t invite more than your venue will allow because it’s possible you have every single person RSVP (yes, it happens they say).
Then I hear about people’s RSVPs with no being 30, 40 or even 50%! While that makes for a cheaper wedding than anticipated, I would hate to plan on 175 and get only 90 people…that would be a different wedding than I was planning.
Any thoughts or advice?
Our venue holds 175 max (though really it’s 180 for a tight squeeze). We have 187 on our invite list ATM though it’s a draft. I personally would be happy if we had 150 guests (which would be a 20% decline rate for 187). Do you think that’s reasonable?
Our wedding is about 45 minutes away from where most guests live though we are invite some Out of Town guests (probably about 40).
I’m curious what was your invite number and decline rate?
