I know that it may be a bit rude to ask, but I’m just wondering how much weight, if any, you lost or plan to lose for your wedding day? What do you ladies think is reasonable in terms of weight loss goals? I feel like there is a lot of pressure to look really good on your wedding day, what do you think?

There is definitely a lot of pressure. I think it varies for everyone and can depend on SO many factors…how much time you have, how much you currently weight, how much you change your lifestyle and how committed you are.
When I got engaged in 2008 I was at my goal weight. I had just lost 45 lbs with Weight Watchers and running and was feeling on top of the world. In the past two years I”ve gained 30 lbs and I’m currently halfheartedly trying to lose 15 before the big day.
I think if you commit to a healthy eating plan and exercise a few days a week, you can expect to lose about a pound a week. More than 2 lbs a week is unrealistic and you’re not likely to maintain long-term. I really think Weight Watchers is a great plan.

Funny seeing you here Sboston. : )
I got engaged at my heaviest weight. I have really struggled and put a ton of pressure on myself to lose a significant amount of weight for the wedding. And it hasn’t happened.
I am focused now on living a healthy lifestyle for my marriage and if I lose wegiht for the wedding, I will be happy. Anything lost is a bonus. Fiance loves me no matter what.

I decided 9 months before the wedding that I wanted to lose 25 lbs. We’re 6 months out and I’m down about 10. It’s not to fit into the dress, but to feel healthier, sexier, and better in general. I figured it was a good way to have real motivation beyond the theoretical! We’ll see if I can actually hold myself to it…

My goal is 50 pounds, and since I have two years to lose it, I’m pretty sure I’ll make it.
I had joined weight watchers right before the boy proposed, so it was something I was going to do for myself, anyway. The wedding is just extra motivation, now.
I love Weight Watchers. I had lost 30 pounds with it prior, but I fell off the wagon because I was doing online and not meetings. This time around, I’m going to meetings, and they’re already a huge help. I’ve lost 7 pounds in my first two weeks back on it (I know this will taper off quickly).

I didn’t really lose weight but I wanted to tone up for my wedding.
