I have the tv on right now and it seems like every other commerical is about buying an engagement ring for the holidays. Now, I know it’s one of the biggest times to get engaged but it gets a bit annoying and a tad bit hurtful when i’m pretty sure it won’t happen for me until 2011. Anyone else feel like this or am just being overly sensitive since I’m a waiting bee?

When I was waiting those commerials irriated the heck out of me. I used to change the channel. Now I just roll my eyes because they’re such a ridiculous sentimential ploy for $$.

Yes, I’ve noticed this too!! Also have you noticed it seems like every sitcom/TV show in general is about proposals or weddings!? It’s driving me nuts! haha

You’re not alone. Those ads make me crazy. They also make me feel slightly uncomfortable when they come on and I am watching TV with my SO.
Although…I will say this. Since I found out he is using his grandmothers ring, all the ring commercials bother me less. I think it was just watching them and having the tv broadcasting “ENGAGEMENT RINGS!!!!” while feeling there was no ring in the works for me that upset me.
They make me want a Christmas proposal at the same time as making me not want one.

Thanks, glad to know I’m not the only one. It’s like they are trying to say that a ring is the only acceptable present and nothing else will do. It drives me a bit crazy
(and makes me a bit sad) since I’m pretty sure there is no Christmas proposal for me.
@rosegirl: You are so right! Every show seems to be pushing weddings and/or proposals on us. It might be since its “sweeps” time but still, it gets a bit too much at times. Now if only our SOs would get the hint….

Yes, every time I have I’m in car and turn on the radio there’s a commerical about buying an engagement rings, everytime I turn on the TV, it’s about getting engaged. It is driving me crazy!

I think its just that You tend to notice things more when it pretains to you, I haven’t seen engagement commercial, maybe cuase I am already engaged, but I have noticed the car commercials, but this is probably because I just sold my car and already want a new car already!

They are driving me crazy and I can not wait for the Holidays to be over so they will go away, mostly….. but on the flip side I kind of like FH seeing them…. just saying 🙂

I haven’t seen any or just not paid attention to them.LOL I’m sure when I do see them I’ll try to ignore while my SO says something about the ring or if the proposal was jacked up. (Yeah, he does talk about other proposals.lol I thought that was my job?LOL

@wishingonadream04: I understand where you’re coming from, it’s really tough. Seems like the ads are all over the place these days because x-mas is just around the corner. But when the jewelry ads come on I fell like duct taping J’s eyes open and tying him down so that he pays attention, lol.
Hang in there!

I feel like duct taping J’s eyes open and tying him down so that he pays attention, lol.
Same here – I bet if guys were subjected to the same hyper-awareness of marital status (or lack thereof) as women, there’d be a heck of a lot less waiting. My Boyfriend or Best Friend just makes snarky comments when those commercials come on about how it’s a ploy to make men feel the need to spend a lot of money on a rock. Yay – how romantic.

Yes I do, partially because I am pretty sure it will not happen until 2011. He said that everyone does it during the holidays and why would we want to do it when everyone else does? i told him I dont care about that, but I know it’s prob not happening yet, so those commercials are just salt in the wound…

There’s this new Kay jewelers commercial out where it shows 3 men from around the world proposing to their girlfriends. The guys actually appear to be proposing to the camera (ugh haha). Well I told my boyfriend that it was probably for us waiting girls to see what it would look like to have someone propose to them! Who comes up with these commercials? They are major cheese lol.

Yeah, the commercials make my chest feel a little tight. Honestly this whole Christmas time in general doesn’t do much for my happiness so……I plan to wear my headphones and listen to music for the next couple of months and just ignore the world. 🙂

I can’t stand the ads because they are SO cheesey! I end up hitting the mute button or changing the chanel when those ads come on because they are so awkward to watch.
