Hey PCOS buddies, Im Just curious since I’m so new to this TTC thing, how do you guys figure when and if you ovulate? I understand the option of temping, but if it only tells you AFTER you’ve ovulated, how is that helpful? Especially if cycles are random and different lengths of time each cycle… Sorry if i sound ignorant,I’ve tried researching stuff online, but it all gets so confusing…sometimes it’s great just to hear from other woman and their experience. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

When I’m not being medicated by my RE, I generally ovulate every 2-3 months. But there have also been cycles when I’ve ovulated on CD 14. I would just have to use lots and lots of opks. After a while, your cm pattern might make more sense to you and you won’t have to use as many.

I have extremely off cycles. Some months my cycle is about 30 days while the next cycle can be 140 days. This can make it tricky to determine exactly when I ovulate. I do temp though and it helps a lot! I honestly took an NFP class and without that I don’t know if I would have understood my cycles as well. After a couple of cycles of charting I could see the patterns in my cycle, which obviously helps to better help in determining when I am ovulating.

I ovulate every cycle. Sadly it hasn’t helped me get pregnant yet, but even with the mild PCOS, every time. Exercise, diet, and Metformin do shorten/regulate the length of cycles tho.

I and most of us on here use the ovulation sticks. Pee on them and it’s kinda like taking a pregnancy test. A line as dark or darker than the test line indicates you’ll ovulate in the coming 12-48 hours. Temping helps confirm ovulation so you can build a picture of when your fertile window is.
