I have loved pretty much all of it, EXCEPT all of the money spending and writing the guest list 😉

I must be pathetic because I am hating every aspect of wedding planning lol!

Only thing I probably like was designing my invitation, but of course, invitation leads to guest list planning and that’s a pain in the butt…

ETA: choosing BMs was a big, BIG pain in the a$$.

warriorprincess:  That’s hilarious! So true! The other day, I was like, “Ok, I really need to start focusing on not looking like a stressed out, tired frazzle from Hell come wedding day, now!”

The guest list was hard and took awhile to figure that out. I think the part I have not enjoyed the most is dealing with the drama that I had no clue would surface! You start running into control freaks and family issues surface with people showing some pretty ugly sides and having to draw boundaries with people due to restraints. You run into people that you just met getting their feelings hurt because they want this or that becuase it would be special to THEM, but they forget that it’s not their wedding and they barely even know you, etc. However, I’m finding that if I just remain calm and ride it out, solutions start surfacing and the drama starts to get sorted out, so I think it is worth it, but no fun in the middle of it! 😉

I’ve been engaged 4 months and so far I’ve achieved NOTHING! I am having a terribly hard time choosing a venue, and when I do find a venue I like the vendors don’t get back to me (at all) when they promised. So I guess so far for me, venue hunting has been my least favourite. But I HATE how materialistic and how JACKED UP PRICES ARE at the slight drop of the word “wedding”. I think it’s a rort how expensive weddings are. I just can’t justify spending $20k + on ONE DAY! So my fiance and I are very seriously considering eloping instead, and just having a nice engagement party instead. At the end of the day, we’ll be husband and wife either way, I just don’t think it’s necessary to spend $20k + to achieve that!

I have to say, I dreaded picking out the music for the ceremony, but once I got into it, that has been my favorite part, by far! There are some enormously beautiful pieces of work out there and I think we should all listen to this stuff more often.

Venue shopping was SHIT.

I was out of the country for three months right after I got engaged, and had to stay up late/ wake up early to reply to emails. Most venue managers didn’t take me seriously and wouldn’t even answer my notes. For the ones who did, Everything took foreeeever  because of the time difference. I could not visit anything due to being so far and I realized some pictures are VERY misleading. And I had to look at all my top choices get booked after the wave of holiday engagements. I fell stuck, because no venue = no date = no planning plans possible = very annoyed family.

I am really enjoying everything else to be honest.

Waiting for RSVPs to come back to us. I’m the most impatient person in the world, I would like to do the seating chart yesterday, and I’d like to be able to order the escort cards. I’m also curious as to how the responses will end up.

Paying sucks, for sure. I feel like little things kind of catch up to you and poke their heads out exactly when you don’t have money for it.

I hate the fact that even though I’m an older encore bride EVERYONE thinks they can tell me what I should or should not do for my own wedding! My Future Mother-In-Law screwed up our original plans by going behind our backs and inviting people we weren’t planning to, but we dropped back and punted, rearranged things to accommodate the added guests even though we were pretty pissed, and rolled with it…and even then throughout EVERY aspect of our planning everyone had an opinion or “advice” on what we should or should not do. Newsflash folks, we are in our 40s and 50s respectively, so we’ve got this! Seriously drives me bonkers and I’m counting down the nine more days until the wedding is over with and we are finally married.
