@Illinois Bride – those are two of my primary inspiration photos! And I’m hoping to avoid the “blow out, then re-add curl” stage. It just seems so counter-intuitive. Plus, it’s strange, but my hair holds its natural curl well, but curling iron curl? Not so much.

Thanks @JamaicaBride! P.S. I saved that picture you posted in my inspiration folder. I like how her hair isn’t shellacked down, and I like the volume at the crown.

Masala:  You’re so purty!  Love your hair.  My hair is exactly the same and I NEVER see any inspiration for REALLY curly hair like ours.  I don’t want to straighten it because I want to dance and I WILL sweat it out.  LOL

I love the bride’s hair in this slideshow though it’s a bit longer than yours.  I like your hair flower idea though.

@jjilyeah I know, I mean what’s the deal here? Do women with curly hair not get married? Do they ALL straighten their hair? I’m afraid to go to a hairstylist for a wedding ‘do because I know they’ll come at me with a blowdryer. I think I’ll probably just practice a lot and do it myself.

Thanks for the compliment, btw. Smile

@masala:  yeah I had a hairstylist tell me to straighten my hair and “be a lady” when I explained to her my reasons for not wanting to. Surprised  Good luck!

@masala What about those two? I love the flower idea I do that myself all the time. When my hair was shorter I use to fro it out and just stick a flower in it for formal events. I totally feel your pain. I am always looking for new ways to cut and style my hair in different ways and can never find any photos of really curly hair. My is just a bit looser than yours (attached). I find this site really helpful sometimes http://www.naturallycurly.com/
