@clumsylawyer:  Replying because I have naturally curly hair and generally only love it when I take the time to straighten it. However, my Darling Husband, my mom, and many of the people I know prefer my hair curly. I’d love to hear what other bees recommend!

When I wear my hair curly, I usually just use Paul Mitchell Sculpting Lotion and some Moroccan Oil on the ends.

@clumsylawyer:  I have long curly hair as well and while many curly haired people seem to use gel over mousse, I prefer mousse. I find it leaves my curls softer and not so crunchy. Ive used so many different mousses – very high end to the cheapest possible and have found the Herbal Essances Totally Twisted works the best (about $4), but before using the mousse I use a hair lotion (my preference) or serum to help prevent any frizz (only use a very small amount though other wise it will make hair look really greasy and it wont curl right.). I also use a defusser attachment to my hair dryer. I find it helps define the curls and it cuts down on the frizz, it also gives it bounce. Then I finsh with a a medium hold hairspray to prevent it from frizzing  from outdoor elements, but its not too strong to make it crunchy again. Also a mosturizing shampoo and conditionar can help cut frizz, too. 🙂 Hope that helps a bit!

@Brielle:  Your post made me giggle because I am the EXACT same way. I only seem to like my hair when its straight, but my family prefers it curly. 🙂

I am the same way. lol. I have curly hair, Ive been wearing it curly for the summer cuz if I straighten it, it curls up before I leave the house. My Fiance prefers curly hair, I don’t get it, I think I look so bad with it curly!

Anyways, after I shower in the morning I just put in Aussie Catch the Wave, its a mousse and leave in conditioner. I have tried other products but they all make my hair crunch and flat. I never have crunchy hair with this stuff, and my hair looks so full once it dries. Also I am pretty sure it tames my frizz cuz I never have any when I use this stuff, and usually I am a frizz ball.

I had straight hair up until I had my daughter 4 years ago.  Now it gets curlier and curlier.  The only products that work well for me (defined curls without it being “crunchy”) is the Be Curly line from Aveda.  They are a bit pricey, but I only need to buy it once or twice a year.

I use John Frieda Frizz ease- it’s a gel, and as someone mentioned, if you overdo it with gels, it makes hair crunchy, so he might have to test it out before.  I srunch it through my hair right after the shower, and it doesn’t dry crunchy, people can’t tell that I ever have gel in it!  Good luck!

Have him try deva curl! It is probably the best thing I’ve ever found for curly hair. I don’t use it anymore because I prefer products that are organic/nothing synthetic but it makes curly hair look amazing! They have a trial kit with small bottles you can buy. Chek ulta!

I live and breathe by Ouidad products.  In 34 years, they’re the ONLY products that work well on my super curly hair.  I kind of interchange Ouidad and Deva products, but overall I prefer Ouidad.

The very best thing for curly hair is coconut oil. Slick a little on like serum and leave it to dry naturally. I’ve been through LOADS of other products and only coconut oil makes my hair look naturally amazing.

I second Deva Curl and Ouidad.  My favorite is Ouidad’s heat and humidity gel.

I believe Boots also has their own curl cream. It comes in a little pink jar I think (Or at least it used to) it’s something cheap if you want to experiment that I know a lot of curly haired girls love.

For any of the ladies that are interested, I strongly suggest checking out the forums at naturallycurly.com. A lot of great info there!
