I like the Johnathan products for my frizz in the summer here where it is really humid. I use the Johnathan spray dirt for frizz, it gives the hair the day after a wash look and isn’t really heavy.  You can get it at sephora.  I use the hairspray too, but it isn’t really heavy duty hold.  I would try the sebastian hair sprays, they do hold very well.  Detanglers I don’t use anymore since I started using the new Aveeno shampoo and conditioners, they are spectacular.

I have super dry curly hair and its really thick as well.  AKA…A mess.  I’ve tried every product under the sun and what works best for me is a moisturizing shampoo/conditioner (my favs are redken allsoft and nexxus therapee lines) and:

Herbal Essences Mouse (purple can, for waves or curls) or Got2B Kinky Mousee (not sure if they still make this, I’ve not been able to find it lately)

Aussie Sprunch Hairspray or Garnier Fructise Bamboo Hairspray, flexible hold

Like I said…I’ve tried it all, including ridiculously expensive salon brands, and this is what works best for my hair.  If you find anything let me know and I’ll be happy to try!

@Sassygrn:I second this! I typically use the AVEDA be curly style prep ad then the curl enhancer. I also use the smooth infusion line and love it! I have tried so many products in the past and as of now this one seems to work the best.

Like the previous 2 posters said…Aveda “Be Curly” is the way to go! I have wavy hair and used it almost every day on our honeymoon b/c if I flat ironed it, it wouldn’t stay straight due to the humidity

I have thin, naturally curly hair and my two go-to products are:

Splurge: Sebastian Whipped Cream Mousse

Steal: Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream Gel.

Both leave my hair defined and not crunchy, but the mousse holds up longer.

The DevaCurl line is amazing. I use it and never worry in humidity, rain, or snow.
