Hi ladies! Newly engaged and I’m soon to go and try on dresses. However, bit nervous as I’m 5’2.5 and a UK 12-14 (US 8) but losing weight for the big day. So I have curves (mostly hips, thighs and bum) and not tall but will be wearing heels. Done my research and apparently an a-line, Princess or modest ball gown would suit my shape. Would love to see what similar shaped brides or brides to be will be wearing so I can get an idea of what I may look like. Thanks in advance X

4 feet 10.5 inches and totally curvy here. I’m about a US 10-12 in most items. I went for a full A-Line for my dress. My runner up was actually a fit and flare which looked great too. I would recommend trying different styles on and seeing what looks best. Some of those curve shaping dresses look great on us curvy folks.

here’s me when i first found my dress. Its a line and ive baught an 8 layer petticoat to go underneath. I’ll also need smoothing knickers. I am 5 foot 2 at a stretch and a size 18 au.
Food for thought i also tried on a number of different shapes and to be honest none of them were aweful…

I’m 5’4″ and usualy a US 8 or 10. This is my dress, which is an 8. Little tighter around the hips than I’d like, but we’ll see how it looks with some shapewear!

mojojo29: I am 5’0 and 95lbs but I carry ALL my weight in my hips/thighs and legs so I’m quite curvy. I said to heck with what I’m “supposed to wear” I wore what I felt awesome in!

- Wedding: February 2015 - Mount Hermon
mojojo29: I was set on a trumpet or fit-and-flare (not as fitted as a mermaid, but more fitted than an A-line). My mom was not supportive of this, as she has always been critical of my weight.
I ended up with exactly what I wanted and I felt gorgeous!
ETA: I’m 5’4″, 160lbs, and wore 3 in heels.

I’m 5’0 and weighed about 135 pounds (which is considered over weight for my height) when I bought my dress. I’ve gained a few inches since then because I’ve been lifting weights and haven’t started cutting yet, so I’m hoping my dress zips when it comes in lol.

My dress isn’t in, but I’m a true pear shape which everything in the hips, thighs and butt areas. I could’ve easily gotten away with a fit n flare or a trumpet gown but fell in love with a ballgown instead. I don’t have any pics of me in my gown because it won’t be here for another few months but here’s a pic of what it looks like.

kirsey6: Oh no, go with the one you have got , it looks wonderful on you . The second one is nice but a bit nightgown-adjacent for wedding dress I think.
