I am always looking at dresses online, trying to get an idea of what I like. The only problem I have is the models online, need to eat a sandwich. I cannot get an idea of what looks good from models whose bones are sticking out. It scares me to go shopping when I see these models, and feel like I am going to feel like a blimp when I go. I need some inspiration!!
So I need you ladies to help me out here. I have never been dress shopping, for any kind of dress. I need to know how you are holding you ladies in your dress (as I am a busty girl), what kind of petticoat, slip, or shapewear you are wearing.
Please show me your dresses!! Thanks!

YAY! I love these posts!
I am a street size 12 and surprisingly ended up ordering my dress in a 12 as well. I have a smaller upper body but big hips, butt, and thighs. I am also not a sample size but not quite plus size so trying on dresses was kind of awkward. They were either way too small or way too big and that made it hard to figure out what they were going to look like on me.
But after 5 stores about 50 or so dresses, here’s the winner:

I don’t know if I am considered curvy, but I ordered my dress in a size 12.

@thumpurr: I’m a size 12! I didn’t think I’d go for strapless, but fell in love with this dress. I was nervous before going too, I was afraid nothing would look how I wanted on my body. A word of advice- try on all different styles and don’t assume something won’t look good on you. I almost didn’t even try on the dress I ended up buying! I thought for sure the shape wouldn’t flatter me but I LOVED the lace so gave it a try, and it was the one! Good luck ! 🙂

Street size 14 (NZ) bridal size 18 (!) but I felt slim and beautiful on my wedding day, and that’s the most important thing I think 🙂

my seamstress tightened the bust area so I would feel secure, (the dress had sewn in cups with a strap in the back, so basically a built in bra… but I still didn’t feel so held… so I’m wearing a corset under it. It’s by Rago and strapless obviously and it holds me in really well plus makes me feel held up and secure!

I completely agree with you…it is great to see real women in dresses. I am busty and I had cups sewn in. It held me well and I was very comfortable.

i was a 12/14 for my wedding. i think my dress looked horrible on the model but awesome on me (i’m not at all biased ). i didn’t wear any shapewear underneath. the dress came with cups already sewn in so i didn’t need a bra.
