My engagement ring is 1.85 carat cushion cut diamond ring and my finger size 4.5. I have been told that cushion cut looks much smaller than round brilliant cut. Do you think my ring looks like 1.5 (round cut size) or looks bigger or even smaller than that?

For me it looks a little bit bigger than a 1.5 but that’s just my opinion. Each stone, diamonds and Amora gems are all cut different so each has they’re own dimensions so you can have the same carat weight even in the same shape and could appear differently.
But yes, other cuts like a cushion and princess will look smaller than a round brilliant of the same carat weight. The reason for this is because those cuts carry more weight on the bottom so yes it’s true they are the same carat weight but the weight is differently proportioned.

Your ring is beautiful by the way ☺️.

Cushions do face up smaller than rounds but since I know that, yes I think it looks like a 1.5 carat stone. However it won’t look as large as a 1.5 carat round but that’s to be expected. Your ring is gorgeous btw!

I have a cushion cut and I think mine looks a lot smaller than it is, but yours looks between 1.5 and 2 to me! And it’s beautiful

just compare the mm x mm of your stone to one of a 1.5ct round.
and yes, cushions face up smaller than rounds.

You can enter in the dimensions on diamdb.com and it will tell you if your ring faces up true to size or not; you can also compare the dimensions of that cushion to a 1.5 ct round.
If you want more finger coverage, you could always consider adding a halo 🙂

Does it look smaller that a round brilliant of the same carat weight? Yes. Round brilliants face-up larger than cushion cuts. But does your ring look small? No, it doesn’t. It looks quite large and beautiful.

That ring looks amazing on your hand, the stone is substantial and provides great coverage. It is true that a cushion will face up smaller than a round of the same ct weight, but perception of big and small is also influenced by finger size, which in this case plays on your favor. To me, the stone looks between 1.50-1.75 ct.

It probably has a similar level of finger coverage to a 1.5 RB, but I think the difference between that and a 1.85 RB would be pretty miniscule. Just enjoy your ring!

I think your ring on your hand looks as if it’s over 2 carats.

If I saw it in passing, I would say it looked like a large stone.
