I picked a cushion cut stone. I loved it because it looks like a pillow (hence the cushion lol). It’s soft without being round, and square without the sharp corners.. People say they don’t sparkle as much but my stone is a little disco ball.
What about you? Do you ever regret your choice?

msformaldehyde: I picked mine for the same reason. I just loved that it had a softer/more antique feel. I didnt really care for the princess cut on my hand and honestly, I didnt want to go with a round only due to the fact that I was married before and had a round. This was a great alternative for me!

I didn’t pick my ring out, Fiance did it all on his own. I still would have picked cushion cut for the same reasons you did. Mine sparkles like crazy!
I wouldn’t change cuts at all, I think princess is too square and round isn’t my style at all! I’m in love with cushion cut!

You’re so right in your description of cushion cut. It’s soft and its gorgeous. I can’t speak for the sparkle because I feel like it’s beautiful and very sparkly but maybe by comparison to other cuts it’s not as sparkly? I don’t know and I don’t care to compare. I love it!
I originally wanted an emerald cut cut cut but my cushion diamond stood out to me like a diamond in the rough lol while we were picking diamonds and I knew this was the one.

msformaldehyde: Similar reasons! I’m not sure exactly why but cushion cut always stood out to me, I originally fell in love with that classic Harry Winston cushion cut halo ring and always knew that’s the style I wanted! I think its also a nice mix of modern but timeless and won’t date and will always look classic. Mine also sparkles like crazy I constantly get comments on how beautiful and sparkly it is! Yay for cushions! 🙂

I fell in love with cushions when I was working in the diamond biz. I love the chunky look and how they dont seem so shallow. My husband did a stellar job picking out a beautiful one!

bkrocks13: Yes! I love how deep cushions look, they seem to go on forever!

msformaldehyde: I love my cushion cut! It’s very sparkly so I think it just depends on the cut of the stone. I picked it because while I loved the look of the emerald cut, it just was not sparkly enough! I was torn between cushion and radiant and told my then SO to just find one he loved. He picked a fairly rectangular cushion, and I love it!

Mine is an ideal square which looks like a cushion cut. My fiance and I traded my original round in for this one and I’m absolutely in love with it! It doesn’t look as big for it’s size compared tto other shapes, but I don’t care. It sparkles like mad and is so clear.

msformaldehyde: my fiance chose it without any of my input. He was presented with 3 stones and chose the one he liked the best.
And I love it!

Totally same for me! Round but not round, square but not square, and my first engagement ring had a round diamond. Let’s see your cushions!! Here is mine!
halling78: That is so pretty!!!

We had a princess cut halo wedding set on layaway when I found a stand-in ring on berricle that had a cushion halo. I just fell in love with the soft shape. Everything about it was simply perfect so I just had to switch.

I desperately wanted a vintage ring (1900 – 1930s) but most of the ones I found didn’t have the quality of clarity and color that I hoped for (or they were way out of our price range!). To me, the cushion cut was a good compromise to have a quality stone but a setting that speaks to the vintage adoration I have. I don’t have the square cushion though, mine is a rectangle (1.2 ratio I believe). I have only been wearing it for two days and love it! It also sparkles a ton so not sure why people would think it doesn’t…
