ct to ct, cushion are a smaller mm size.  So if you like how a a certain mm size looks in a round I would base your choice on that.  Cushion are a bottom heavy cut.  Here is a good resource though  You just enter in the ct size and a cushion and hot compare, and then choose your finger size.  Then you will be able to see how big or small it will approx be.

I really liked the cushion but I ended up going with round not because of the size but because of the cut. By “cut” I mean 4 C’s Cut, not shape.  Because jewelers have perfected how to cut a round diamond to maximize sparkle, fire, etc, I think a round diamond looks much bigger, prettier, and sparklier than any other shape of the same carat size. Does that make sense? I compromised by getting a cushion-shaped halo around my round stone.

@westcoast_girl:  If you love the cushion cut, go the cushion cut! It’s not a HUGE difference, I have a cushion cut with a halo and diamond band (2ctw) and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get! It sparkles like crazy and I am so in love with it – so I may be biased, but I just think they’re beautiful 😉

This is a 1.3 round on my 5.5 finger (not my actual ring, we are waiting to get in it!)

rounds are the most sparkly, but a well cut cushion will give a round a good run for their money.  I love cushion!  So I would choose that.  🙂
