@Frizzette080211:  I prefer cushion cut, but then again, I’m a bit bias since my stone is a cushion! 🙂

I like the cushion shape but I believe it is more yellow in color.

I do like how “white” the round shape is but I don’t like the cut.

I love the OEC and the oval though 🙂 I have heard the oval is low in color too though.

I have a cushion diamond so I cant speculate to moissy issues, however I will say that cushions generally face-up smaller than rounds, so if looking like you have a large stone is important, a cushion is likely not a good cut for you.  My 1.65 cushion is 6.5mm across which is aprox the same as a 1ct round (I think.)  They are a “chunkier” cut just by nature, so they take up less surface area on the hand. I LOVE mine, however- when you look into it from the top, it looks endless.  I would not ever try to disuade someone from getting one, but I do have a few friends with 1ct or 1.25 ct round centers and our rings look similar in surface area from the top.

    Good luck!

@Frizzette080211:  no problem!! its really up to the individual- I absolutely love my cushion and the facets that the specific cut provide. I also love that most people don’t know what the cut is- they ask me if its a “weird round” or “sort of square” ha.  I would also caution cushion bees from getting a setting that is bezel set or too heavily pronged and low, because so much of the weight of the stone is in the girdle. Mine is cathedral set with tension set sides, and I love how BIG it looks from the profile.

I had this same questions a few months back- think I even had a tread on it.  I became pretty ring obsessed.  I couldn’t find enough cushion pictures to really make a decision plus couldn’t find even a cushion diamond in a jewelery store to try on Also due to the shape of cushion for me I felt like  would want a larger stone (2ctw round=2.5ctw cushion) which made it a bit too pricey.

    Here’s my 2ctw FB round

My Forever Brilliant 1.5ct round moissy is pretty yellow-green, and I’m not that colour sensitive. I may have just gotten a dud stone or something. The cushion cut may make it look yellower, if you are trying to decide between the colour in both stones.

@akirasan:  Thats another factor I had read about. My FB 2ctw is buttery and personally I wouldn’t want it to be more yellow or green.
