Helpp!! I am totally undecided on shape we will be ring shopping in march! Considering the asher or cusion but also like the uniqueness of an oval As i have long skinny fingers and the oval may look a bit bigger…What are the major differences of cushion vs asher in a 1ct range and size 6? Please post pics if you got one!! Thanks for the input!!
I am curently loving the above one from Ritani.. So beautiful!!!

The asscher or square emerald as it’s sometimes called, is a step cut, where as the cushion cut is a sort of modified round brilliant, with the sparkly facets. Asschers can look much smaller “face up” than cushions of the same carat weight, so that is something to bear in mind. Also, a cushion will sparkle, and an asscher will throw off big chunky flashes when light hits it, so 2 completely different looks.
Check out pricescope. There are threads on there with cushion vs asscher. I just purchased an asscher cut from James Allen, so I don’t have pictures yet, but that’s also a good place to see actual photos of cushions and asscher cuts.

From my very limited knowledge, the asscher has a step style cut, so it would appear chunkier than a cushion, and more squared off. Here’s my ring, a 1.30 carat modified brilliant cushion, versus a picture of a similar style with an asscher cut center.
FYI this is another bee’s gorgeous ring!
