I have a choice in fabric for custom Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses but don’t know what to choose. Which is better, cotton silk or tafetta? Would one get really wrinkley easily? Would one look a lot dressier than the other? I want whichever is least shiny. Please help me because I have to tell her right away and have no access to fabrics.

taffeta is such a limiting fabric; i fell in love with cotton silk, just ended up going with chiffon bc of my all-lace dress. good luck!

I think cotton silk would be less shiny. I absolutely love my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, which were silk taffeta, but they were a bit shiny.

I didn’t like taffeta when I was trying on wedding dresses. It felt…. crunchy or something. Kind of itchy too. I would vote for the cotton silk if you’re not choosing a style that needs a lot of struture in the fabric.

Cotton silk is so much prettier in my oppinion and it is what my girls are going to be in!

I love Dessy dresses and out of the two you like I prefer D458. As for material I think taffeta would shine more. I tried on a tafetta wedding dress and did have a bit of shine to it. As for wrinkling the cotton/silk may do more but I don’t know, that’s just a guess.

Are these the actual dresses you’re using, or are you having them custom made? I purchased my bridesmaids dresses from this line (d447) and used the silk dupioni.
