My fiance gave me a gorgeous diamond when he proposed knowing that I would want to have a one of a kind ring created. Well, we have been enagaged for over 2 months now and today I finally found a jeweler who can make the ring I want. I am so happy! After spending two months with the wrong jeweler, and then interviewing three more. The interesting thing is, I don’t think I was ready two months ago, I had too much I needed to learn about rings!
Anyone have a ring idea that has been hard to realize?

Good for you for not giving up! You have to wear it for the rest of your life after all. That’s how I was about my ring. I spent about 8 months thinking about my ring (setting, vintage vs new, type of stone, size of stone, type of metal.) I know more about stone hardness and metal durability than I ever thought I would. I’m so glad I didn’t go with my first instinct, or I may have ended up with a stone of only a 7 on the Mohs scale, which would be hard to hold up in day to day wear. I ended up with a one carat Moissanite solitaire set in palladium with channeled stones on the prongs. a far cry from the vintage 3 carat citrine I originially envisioned. And because we ordered online, I went to local jewelers to try on different styles, and after trying on several halos, they just looked too busy on my finger, and I ended up liking the solitaire. So research and a good work ethic are important 🙂
You need to post pics!

we had mine made by tacori and i love it!!!! took them 6 weeks but nobody else has it. I’m sure people have rings similar but not the exact one because it got custome made and thats the best part.

i really wanted a ring from niwaka, but unfortunately they pulled out of the states. so we had our friends’ parents special order a similiar-looking ring from Japan, and put some diamonds into it (17 itty bitty ones, to be exact). It took about 2 months from idea (more like whining?) to receiving. Truly a one of a kind!

I thought I had a hard time! I had a family diamond that we used but after spending two weeks looking for a pre-made setting, I realized that I would need to get it made to get exactly what I wanted. The first jeweler was recommended by a friend, we waited a week to get in and meet with him. He understood what I wanted, quoted a price then called and upped the price 50%. It took a week to get the diamond back.
The second jeweler had a setting that I liked and only needed to be slightly tweeked. They said it would take three weeks total to get it made. I would receive a digital image after one week, a wax mold at two weeks, then the ring at three weeks. After two weeks I still hadn’t even received the digital image, so we decided to end that order. They held my diamond hostage. It was a nightmare!
It all worked out in the end because jeweler number three made the ring of my dreams! It took three weeks, which after the first two experiences I was so anxious for. We still hadn’t told anyone because we wanted to wait for the actual ring. Glad that part is over. I am kind of scared to go band shopping because I’m afraid of having a similar experience!
