Go for it!!  Your idea of asking that there be some room built in for taking in/letting out is a great one.  Have you found a good place to order from?  There are lots of seamstresses on Etsy who I’m sure can accomodate.  Good luck!!

That store looks great, the reviews are pretty good!  I think that the fit isn’t a huge problem; if it doesn’t come in properly, you can take it to a local tailor and have them adjust it for you.  The cost shouldn’t be that big a deal.  As for liking or not liking I’m not sure… I guess it depends on how set you are on the style!  But I don’t think fit needs to be a big deciding factor 🙂

Simplybridal has a few dresses that have that vintage factor:

If you didn’t want to purchase through Simply Bridal, I still don’t think you necessarily need to do custom. There are a lot of sheath dresses out there that would  be similar to what you’re looking for. You might want to try looking at Maggy London dresses. Here are a few dresses I found online that I think might be both bridal looking and similar to the silhouette you’re looking for.

I have custom ordered my wedding dress from a designer in another country – one thing that I would advise is to call the maker/designer and actually talk to them so that you feel comfortable with them, it made my process so much easier and less stressful.  As for what the material will look like on you.. consider going to a bridal store and ask to try on some bridesmaid dresses in that material so you are able to get the feel of what it will be like.

By The Way I LOVE the Jackie O inspiration your having..
