Hi everyone….My wedding is taking place in about 3 months in the NJ/NYC area. I was originally going to drape my wedding sari over my head but after looking at all the beautiful pictures of a separate dupatta…I WANT ONE! A sheer dupatta looks beautiful and can still show off your hairstyle.
I took a quick trip to Edison and received quotes over $1000 for a very simple red dupatta with very light gold details. My sari didn’t even cost that much! I just can’t bring myself to spend so much on something I will wear for 3 hours. Does anyone have a recommendation for a custom dupatta/veil? Can be outside the tri-state area. I might try Jackson Heights (I found my sari there)
Thanks in advance!

@la_ninaa: I’ve recently started looking…. No scratch that, I’ve been looking at asian bridal wear since way before I even met mr.right! … Anyway now I’m seriously looking with a realistic budget in mind! I’m hoping to have two outfits, one European and one asian (I live in the UK, my mum is English and my dad’s Pakistani) therefore I want one ‘expensive’ dress and one ‘less expensive’ so that two outfits are achievable. At the mo I don’t know which I’ll spend more on but I’ve seen some amazing deals on eBay and Pre-loved. Lets be honest. These lengha/ saris are only worn for a few hours- even if you bought a whole outfit second hand and just used the duputta it would probably still be cheaper than you’ve been quoted. – just an idea, tbh I would never have thought of wearing somethpeg pre-owned on my wedding day but if its beautiful and saves you money- who would know? -anyway good luck and congratulations xx
