Hi sweet bees! I’ve finally decided on my engagement ring center stone. I ordered a Lightbox 1 carat princess cut lab diamond pendant, which I absolutely adore! I’m going to have it removed from the necklace setting and I have 2 favorite engagement ring settings I am trying to choose between. I am going to have them custom made. I attached the lightbox diamond and the two settings. I numbered them to make it easier. I think Number 3 is my favorite but I will probably eliminate any diamonds on the band all together OR Just do one row of diamonds going about halfway down. I’ve also been advised that number 3 more than likely needs an underwire to secure the diamond better. I will be happy with either setting. My question is, does anyone have any recommendations for GOOD custom jewelers that can make either of these settings for me? I would like to keep it under $1000 if possible. I am ok with 14k white gold, but platinum is ideal. I realize this is a lot to ask for under $1000, but I am not married to platinum. I will keep y’all posted every step of the way. If I can get my setting made for that price, then I will have gotten my dream ring for less than $2000. I would be so grateful for any recommendations for credible and reputable custom jewelers. Thank you guys!

I love number two, it’s simple and elegant.

Isn’t number 2 a JA setting? They will set a provided diamond up to 1ct for the setting price plus an additional fee (I believe).
Do you mean basket when you say underwire? If that’s the case you won’t need one. They set much bigger diamonds without a basket.
I like both settings but I personally believe diamonds on the prongs are a waste. And I’d go without a basket.
I never looked excessively into bespoken jewelry but I had my wedding band made by David Klass and I am beyond happy. Actually I am in seventh heaven. But you’d have to get a quote from him. I don’t believe he’s extremely expensive but not cheap either. But you’ll definitely get your moneys worth and the ring you want is pretty standard so I’d ask him for a quote in any case.
Also i just thought of happy jewelers. They seem to be fairly priced as well

MiaSuperstar : yes I believe I meant basket. The part that goes in the middle of the prongs lined with diamonds that the stone sits on. This is a James Allen setting, but this is ONE of the settings that has to be purchased with one of their diamonds. It’s also only for a round cut, but the custom Jewler is making me the same setting for princess cut. It would have been so much simpler if I could have just bought this setting straight from JA.

Mark Morrell is a custom ring designer who works with platinum, and he’s excellent! I may be biased because he made my ring, but I love it and the quality is impeccable. He’s also easy to work with and very responsive; he always replied to my fiance’s emails within 24 hours. This is my ring (it’s the Slim Petite Torchiere setting, 2mm platinum band with a slight taper toward the center):
