I find myself here looking for some advice. I live in a little province called Nova Scotia in Canada. Selection isn’t great for rings and stuff here costs more (not to mention the 15% HST/GST charged on top of all goods/servcies) I’m a pretty particular person and detail is tending to be key in my search for an engagement ring. I fell in love with Tacori 2616 Rehearsal Dinner 6. I was quoted $4,688 for the setting for a size 4.75 with a 6 mm headsize made in platinum to fit a .75 carat middle stone which was quoted at SI1 clarity & F color for $4,999.95 (taxes in). This puts the ring over $10,000 which is above our price range…
Has anyone had luck with getting custom enagement rings made that were inspired by Tacori? Does Tacori offer settings in a material less expensive than platinum? If so, what is it and how much would it save?
Thank you so much for any advice!!

i have a tacori as well. in order to save money, i went down to white gold and i got an amora gem instead of a diamond. you can go to their trunk show (about 2x a year) and save about $400 more towards the ring. i had considered getting a custom made tacori inspired ring but considering the detailing that comes with the tacori and the fact i have a life time warantee with the ring (minus the gem) i got my ring at the jewelers.

You could also check overstock.com, they sell retired Tacori settings with CZ in the center instead of diamonds. It’s a great way to get a Tacori setting at a discount and then you could upgrade the center stone to a real diamond.

I’m sure David klass could make you a ring inspired by the tacori setting you love. His prices are amazing and he’s very talented. He’s under David klass Jewelry on Facebook and pinterest if your interested in seeing some of his work. His email address is [email protected] if you want to contact him for a quote. Another thing I love about him is that, the price he quotes you is the price you pay, and he doesn’t require you to put down a non refundable deposit like most custom jewelers do. You pay nothing until ypur ring is complete and you approve the professional pictures.

When I was looking at rings, I also fell in love with a tacori ring. I was astounded by the price just for the ring, and I asked the jeweller if they could make a custom ring that would look the same. They said that they can’t duplicate it but could try to design something similar. I ended up going with the Tacori because I loved every detail about it and the Fiance was fine with the price. I too, like the warantee too!
I decided on white gold instead of platinum, just a personal preference but it will save you money. And I also agree with the trunk sale they usually have some deals!

Can you have the ring made the way you want and then add your own stone? I’m certain you can get that size diamond with better specs for half the price on Blue Nile. I’ve used Blue Nile myself and it was AMAZING.
Also just wanna say, Canadian bee here – I love NS!! We visited last year (we live in Ontario)
Good luck in your search!

Also going to add F colour is great. Obviously. LOL. So maybe I should say you can get a comparable diamond for cheaper on Blue Nile 🙂

If you want something so detailed like a tacori I agree with scubasiren I would get gold instead of platinum and do an amora or moissonite. A lot if ladies on here get replicas made and they are not happy since it is not exactly like their dream ring. Designers like that have so much detail it is hard to replicate exactly. OP if you are fine with something similar get one made but if you are looking for something fairly exact I would get the setting from tacori.

I’m in Southern Ontario, my Fiance designed my ring and pulled in design concepts from Veraggio and Tacori rings. By designing, he was able to make the setting custom and save a ton of money.. By going custom he was able to get a better quality diamond which is what he was hoping for, and he was able to put in unique features in the ring 🙂 I think in total, he saved jsut over 3k .. I have a lifetime warranty with the jeweler who made my ring, I can go in for free cleanings, prong checks, whenever I want, and he was able to put soo much detail into the ring

Do you know how much going with white gold saved you in the end by any chance??

Blue Nile is a good idea, however I don’t know how I would go about getting the stone put in the setting if I order them seperately. I suppose any jewler could place it in for me? I would hate to mess the warranty up on the band though. Not sure if this would… Yay, CANADA ROCKS!!! 🙂

Fellow Nova Scotian here! I love the design elements of Tacori, so unique!
If you are in Halifax, go to a Touch of Gold in the Mall that has Mills department store On Spring Garden Road. I highly recommend this locally owned jewellery store, they carry Scott Kay designs, which I find look very much like Tacori. Additionally the customer service is outstanding (Don is amazing! He is very friendly, knows his rings and will remember your name wedding date etc). My e-ring was purchased there and my Fiance mentioned his budget but the ring we fell in love with was over his budget. Don contacted him a few days after our meeting and was able to save the tax on our ring. I cannot praise this store enough. My ring was just under 3K, 0.8 ct total weight, round brilliant 0.5ct center stone, VS1 (or 2? I can’t remember) and I believe a G in colour and it’s a cerified Canadian diamond. It has pave stones on 3 sides of the band similar to Tacori.
If you are looking for a local custom jeweller, I have heard good things from Fawcetts on South Park Street.

What was the jewelers name? I’d like to check out some of his work! And see a picture of your ring!
