My custom ring was inspired by Tacori, and the grand total for both the platinum setting and the center sapphire (2.07 ct) was $8990 (cost of the setting being almost half of the total). Going custom, especially if it’s a mom-and-pop type shop like the one we used, will often save you a ton of money: my ring appraised for $14,500. Also, the milgrain on mine was done by hand instead of by machine (which is how Tacori does it), so it came out with a slightly cleaner, more defined look to it.

geembee:  I don’t know the exact amount because it was November when we went shopping but it was for sure around a $1000 difference.

I was just looking at Tacori settings yesterday, but i’m planning to get a yellow gold setting that’s $2850. If you’re mostly concerned about the price, then custom will probably be the better route. All of Tacori’s pieces are handmade and the jeweler was telling me that by the time each piece is ready, over 20 jewelers have worked on it. Also with its popularity, Tacori is probably going to be more pricey than custom inspired by it. It really depends on how much you love Tacori because you could get something that looks like Tacori, but it’s really difficult to compete with Tacori’s craftmanship given how much work they put into each piece.

annd2015:  I was told that Tacori does their miligrain by hand as well. They let me look closely at it and compare the miligrain to their other rings and it doesn’t look exactly the same as it would if it was done by a machine. It’s partially the reason why I want to invest in a Tacori. Regardless, it doesn’t make a huge difference to me and your custom Tacori inspired ring is still gorgeous!

jwaka24:  you’re probably right – it was something my jeweler had told me that I simply took his word on. It’s very likely he was just blowing smoke up my ass.

geembee:  hi!!!! Alberta bee here!! There is a jeweler from Toronto, his name is Nuno. He makes TO DIE FOR rings and I have seen a bunch that look like Verragio inspired settings but I am totally sure he could do a Tacori inspired design. He is on Instagram as ‘Diamondboi’ and I think his website is http://www.diamondboi.ca…. Google him. Amazing!!!! Another choice would be to buy your ring here since we only have 5% tax. =]

happy hunting!!!
