I’ll be honest..I can’t really tell the difference. Since you seem dedicated to having a “dainty” halo I would go with the 0.8-0.9!

Smaller diamonds will sparkle with the same intensity as larger ones. I prefer smaller stones in the halo. I looks less chunky and more elegant and enhances the center stone. All too often it seems like the halo swallows the stone. If you’re going under 1 carat I’d definitely say small. My halos are very thin and the center stones are 2.2ct – 3.2 carat. I just like the look.

Do the jewellery store have examples of rings with halos with that size melee for you to look at? I just had a halo custom made and always wanted a dainty halo, but when I saw examples I was surprised at how much I liked the way the store set halos with the larger melee and, so I went with that.

My jewellery store said the larger melee will sparkle more, but small melee will also sparkle as long as the stones are well cut. I’m so happy with my larger halo, but that’s because I saw examples of the stores work before deciding.
