I decided that I want to get a Verragio replica made, with a few slight changes. I did do my research on the board but Schubach’s quote is nearly twice that of other jewlers I have contacted and out of my price range (and called me the wrong name when it was on the “From” line and valediction of every email, which kind of put me off), David Klass hasn’t answered me for over a week (he has only been in town since Tuesday, but I still haven’t received a quote), and Amcor is just a few hundred over what we want to spend, but they seem to be based in China?
Any other ideas for well-priced custom jewelers that can handle a Verragio well? I am in North Carolina, but willing to work with anyone anywhere as long as they are good at communicating. Of course you can show your bling as proof that they are awesome!

Amcor is in NYC. Give David another shout. He was very responsive for the three rings he made for me. He just got back In town. Put something catchy in the subject line lol.

Slick: Lol, I’m not catchy! I emailed on 7/31 and then again on 8/15 when I got no response (and found out then that he was out of town). He answered the 8/15 email and I have emailed twice since he got back on Tuesday with no response (added on a wedding band to be quoted). I can’t email him again until the end next week without feeling like a clinger, lol.
I really would like to work with him. Maybe I’ve already come across as clingy, I don’t know. I made it clear that I just wanted a quote fairly quickly and I would be very patient through the rest of the process, but I need to figure out if it’s feasable or not budget-wise. Very much hoping I will hear from him next week and don’t have to hunt out someone else, but I figure I might as well get a head start in case I will.
THanks for the info on Amcor. Do you know anything about Amcor vs Klass pricing/quality?

OP… I hate to answer in a vague way but I’m from the San Francisco area. And many many women get custom rings made which look very much like the Verragio style you wish to have. Most of the jewelry designers that seem to do this type of style are located in the LA, Orange county area. This is a style which a lot of the women prefer located in that particular area of California. Its kinda like if you have some money to throw around people wonder why you don’t have that type of style of ring n the LA area. So, I would start my search there. Also, if you search for custom halo pieces I feel you will get a lot of information on wedding bee for custom design.
As far as the price… I find most custom jewelers are way overpriced for ‘intricate’ designs. But, as with all custom designs you have to get quotes. All quotes will be very different. And about using the place in China. I don’t blame you for being hesitant about dealing with overseas custome design. I would want something in the states myself.
I did get my simple solitare custom designed by a man who took over his father jewelry design business in the Silcon Valley. If you wish I will send you his contact information in a PM. I have no idea what he would charge for what you want. He does have CAD available. Speaking from experience if dealing with someone long distance be ready to spend money on sending the ring back if you need to for modifications. Thinking a custom design will come out right the first tine based on a CAD in my life is not realistic. I’ve heard other women say the same.
Lastly, if David is who you want keep bugging him girlfriend. Its your er! Get what you want!

I had problems with DK answering emails too. Hate to say it, but why would you want to work with someone who is not responsive? His stuff is great, that is a given, but customer service is not just about the end result, is it.
Schubachs (Joseph Schubachs) would be who I would go to for custom work.
